Default Pacesetter ypipe pros & cons

Well the real question is: Should i get a pacesetter or-ypipe or a tsp or-ypipe with my pacesetter headers? If i get the pacesetter y i'll save 22 bucks. Is the 22 dollar discount good enough to offset the cons of the ypipe itself? What infact is wrong with the pacesetter or-ypipe, fitment?

have you seen the pacecollector?! the TSP has the advantage there, however slight, there collectors arent that much better from the pics i've seen. Personally i'd opt for the QTP or Mufflex with the flowmaster merge collector. or just have a custom Y fabbed up with the same collector.

Will that cost under $500.00? The reason i ask is because that + shipping is my budget. The TSP is $500.00 with their y pipe while another sponsors price is $22.00 less with the pacesetter y. I'm not really looking for the best one out. I just want to know is the tsp y pipe worth the $22.00 over the pacesetter being that they are both somewhat mediocre.

lookinto the hooker y pipe. thats what I used. you just need to expand a couple of the endings for it to fit perfect. it's cheap too

How about if i just pay $480.000+- now and just get a flowmaster merge collector later on when i have money? I'm really broke and can only afford whats on sale. Like i said $500.00 plus shipping is jjust about all i'll have.

I can give you an excellent review because I have seen both in hand and on car. I just put the pacesetter y pipe on my car Monday.

The pacesetter merge is a better design than the TSP but they blowed it with the finish of that design. What I mean is there is a small hole for the driver side pipe to breath into the collector. The pipe continues on into the y and is blocked all pretty bad. I took my die grinder and removed probably 75% of the material that was blocking it off so mine is pretty good now. The pacesetter fit like a glove. The top of the pacesetter has been flattened where it runs under the floor reinforcments to provide more clearance. The flattened places do not impede flow in my opinion because while the pipe gets a little smaller up top it also is a little wider on the sides from being flattened. If you look into the pipe it is smooth flow where the flat spots are.

The TSP has no flat spots and that is gonna leave you with 2 options. You are gonna have to adjust it to where it tilts downward off the header to make it under the reinfocment on the floor or you are gonna have to modify your floor right there because evry header I have seen has the headers collector sitting so high that you cant run a 3" straight pipe off of it because its higher than the reinforcment. By adjusting it angled down to clear the car you just moved the y that much closer to the ground. Also by having the pipe going on to the header at an angle its not gonna be a flush seal all around the header, and dont even think about using bandclamps if its not flush because they wont cut it. Remember I said the merge was better on the Pace? Now look at the TSP closely. Its not a merge at all but rather a hole cut in the side of the pipe with another pipe welded to that hole. So the driver pipe exhaust is hitting the flow of the passenger exhaust head on.

Price is about same so thats not an issue.

The pacesetter is a good pipe all except for the extra material inside blocking the flow, which for some folks may be reason enough to pass on it.

I will link to couple pics.

Here you can see the flatspots and the merge of the pace. Pace

Here you can see the merge on the TSP. Merge

Here is a pic of the TSP where the owner has it angled downward. TSP

I dont have the money, and i dont want dumps, so headers ory and cutout is going to be my setup. It looks like i'll be saving a few dollars and going with the pacesetter y pipe.

Spy, if you have 20 extra bucks carry the y pipe somewhere that can use a die grinder on it and grind all of the excess material off and you will have a nice y pipe.
