Default Corsa Exhaust

Im new to the LS1 as im fixing to purchase one and i have been doing some research and am disappointed to find hardly any info on anyone using the Corsa system a friend of mine in the Georgia F-Body Association is running a Corsa cat back and by far it is the best sounding system on a fbod in my opinino...he now has a full heads and cam packeage and ls6 intake...but i heard it from the get go being stock...best sound i have ever heard...respectable and quiet downlow...race car when revved...i know they are expensive as the going rate is 800 dollars upward..but price not limiting my choices...so how come many ppl dont run them....fully stainless steel all the way from the cat..just looking for opinions

I think you kinda answered your own question...

The price tends to be the limiting factor for many of us in purchasing the Corsa system or similarly priced systems..(GMMG,Borla,...etc)...

Here is a link with some great sound clips in case you haven't found it already...http://dodds.cc/chad/garage/z28/ls1_sounds/

BTW,I have never heard it in person but from pics and sound clips...it looks like an awesome catback...Good luck!

Tons of people have them, but they aren't as popular as lessor priced units. Price really wasn't a concideration when i purchased my exhaust. I could care less if it was $400 or $800. I went with the magnaflow since IMHO I think sounds best. Some say its raspy, others love it. Just get what you like best since you have to drive the car.
Ive heard Corsas and dont care for the overall sound. I listened to a few, some on fbodies and some on ybodies, I still went with magnaflow. Again get what you thinks best. But remember most people try to get the most bang for their buck. And a stainless magnaflow at around $400 allows people to get other mods done too!

I bought my Corsa in '01 when it was a lot cheaper and all you could get it with was the premium tips - still love the sound and looks like brand new. About a year ago they had a problem with some of the welds coming loose inside some of the mufflers causing a rattle, but they honored the lifetime warranty and replaced them, haven't heard of any problems in quite a while - never had a problem with mine. If you like the sound, looks, have the dough go for it. BTW, it's a catback, but it doesn't run all the way to the cats...and if you want to be loud once in a while just install a cutout.

Alright then..well like i said it was just my personal opinion and i dont think gmmg, or borla stacks up to it i guess ppl just dont buy it cause of the price...but i have my heart set on it because i have heard a bunch of different set ups and i still love his plus the off road y pipe and hollowed cats.......sounds even better with the head and cams and intake...so that will be my choice and i do stand corrected on the stainless part the muffler and tips are..thanx

wasnt taking anything away from you......you came to the right place to start modding an ls1.

have you ever heard gmmg in person? for the price of the corsa you could get gmmg. If your set on corsa, its also an awsome exhaust.

lol, just don't learn to quickly.

You can delete EGR and AIR on pre 01 models, and there isn't really that much advantage to having an LS6 block.

Corsa is very loud with headers with an ORY, mine can attest to that. My cam made it deeper sounding. Put it this way you hear my car going down the track pulling every gear.

I did the Corsa as well. I recently added Kook's LTs w/high flo cats. Very nice cruising and really loud at WOT. I like it a lot more when I add the LTs. The sound changed a bunch. As stated above, get the premium tips. Take a look at the pics in my Sig. It's really a personal choice.

Check around and you can beat the $800 retail cost. I found my Corsa muffler on Ebay for $200 new. Swapped it into my CME setup and whalla! I love my Corsa and the way it sounds. I ran it without cats for awhile but swapped some in as it was really loud and aggressive for everyday driving. The cats have made it one smooth sounding machine! Corsa has an almost exotic sound to it, moreso on the C5's with the TD exhaust.

Yeah i know about deleting the egr and air but i would just like to go ahead and not have to worry about it and i would just like to have the ls6 block for my personal preference.....and as well a fellow member in the club has a laptop tuner(not sure which program) for the 01 and he can hook me up on tuning the 01 so i figured why not....he has the long tubes as well and i love the way it sounds...
