Default make ur own cold air intake

Parts needed.
1: 2 intakes the ones shaped like a cone. AUTOZONE $25 each
2: 2 intake hoses 3" next to the filters AUTOZONE $20 each
3: 2 hoses for intake 3" and they are sold in autozone too but are not in the same isle they are on a different isle and are in boxes not plastic wrapping they are for the intake too $12 each
4: a sprinkler t. go to the sprinkler asle in home depot and get a 3" T make sure us the white plastic one not the black one or your hood will not close.
$1

ok now remove the original filter all the way to your throtle body. and remove the 2 sensors in the assembly. cut down the original hose so that it is smaller and the large sensor is right next to the throtle body. now the intakes should come with plastic adapters get one of those and put it on the other end of the large sensor and and conect the T from homedepot there. now you will have to run 2 hoses into that t one of them is going to go underneath the fuse box and the other behind the battery. down the headlights.into the front where they meet in the front there i cut a hole where it says camaro and put the filters there. it is hard to explain so who ever is interested e-mail me and i have pictures of all the process. and that will give a better idea of how to do it. and to me it works better than the ones they sell.

this is to help out all who dont have a lot of money to spend but want to upgrade their cars. like me.

Are you so sure it helps out providing you show us no horsepower gains. The reason I ask is I wouldnt want any of our members doing this then later finding out on a dyno that it was no help at all. Please post some numbers if you get them and pics, if it works out I am sure many people will try this.

but k&n's are gonna set ya back some...

anyways youd' think this would work.. what i wouldl instead suggest doing it just running some ducting along the same lines but leaving ur stock **** intact and just having it force some cool air up there

well i noticed the difference. and it has 2 filters that are sending cold air into the engine. out of all the filters that ive seen that are cold air most of them stay inside the engine compartment. and to me that is not cold air. the setup that i have brings air from outside right between the two inlets that are in the front of the car. and the filters are going to be replaced those are just for a while until i save up for some k&n ones.

Well, my opinion is that this may not be as efficient as a normal FTRA or CAI, however I like the idea of having something different. Since I doubt the horsepower difference would be more that 1 or 2 HP between systems anyway, Id go with this since it's pretty unique. Throw on LTs and a hefty cam and then dont worry about whatever intake you feel like running.

Nice ride! your car looks sick! I like the creativity of your setup, but have 2 concerns. With your setup, you aren't going to get the "ramming" effect you would with an ftra or ssra . I would also think the "T" would cause turbulance by slamming the two channels of air together. Maybe there is some way to mate the two hoses up with a more direct merge. More like the flowmaster merge. The flowmaster merge makes power because it doesn't slam two channels of air into each other and create turbulance like some y-pipes do. Not trying to nitpick.... you've done a nice job. Just my .02.

yea i happen to agree.. plus u need some flexible tubing that isn't ribbed.... that causes turbulence..

one other thing.. woudln't it be cool if you just had one, with say an inch bigger around, without the ribbing... and could find a way to work out some of the bends.. put it in front of the maf on kinda more of a y upside down

I agree, I think you would see more flow with a y instad of a t. And it is good to see that people are still trying to improve intake flow over whats already out there.

Cool idea, I like it. Your car looks great, but you should really invest in some ThirdGenDecals 35th ann. stripes. Yes, they may be more expensive, but they look WAAAAAY better and wont wrinkle like your seems to have done. Otherwise your car looks sick. Do those fog lights look cool in the grille?
