Question

In Michigan I removed the Cats and no problem. In California they are stricter with that type of thing aren't they?

I suspect you will want to keep the Cats for a daily driver. Also, there was a post in the Racing Lounge forum in the last 2 weeks regarding exhaust in California.

Hope that helps a little.

ur not going to have down pipes with long tubes and a catback. u will have to get a catted ypipe or a offroad ypipe (no cats) and that will hook up to your borla catback.

Better grammar would help us understand more easily.

With no cats borla is raspy. I wouldn't run borla without cats because of that.

It will be VERY loud and sound like crap! The best way to keep it sounding decent is to keep cats on the car. Also, since you’re in California you will have a hard time passing emissions with any type of long tube header system. The only “legal” way to do headers in CA is shorty headers with a C.A.R.B. number, however they won’t give you any improvement in sound or power so don’t bother. If you think you can get around the emissions issue then find a header system with a y-pipe that has cats in it. Something like the SuperMAXX kit, or if you want to run mid-length headers you could use the MAC setup with the cat y-pipe. Others can be made to sound good too, but in my personal opinion, none of the systems available without cats sound any good.

It's not like it's an investment quality item, and most of us can't afford to buy multiple muscle cars.

It'll probably sound about like that fart I let a few minutes ago that ran me out of my office.

You'll gain on the high end, probably lose a tad on the low end.

There is no "best headers and Y-pipe that will work with your borla". Well, I suppose the agreed upon best headers (money no object) are either QTP or Kooks. The best answer we can give you is to buy QTP/Kooks with a catted Y-pipe.

Here is my advice. Listen to everyone of these sound clips and decide for yourself what sound you like.
