clean oil out of intake?
I have put can after can of gunk down this intake and yet there is still a light coat left......it's not enough to hurt anything but just bothers me that I can't get it clean.....
Until you either remove the PCV, or at least put a catch can on , you'll never totally stop the oil from getting in there. I know that the AMW i put on my car did stop about 99% of it, it still gets a slight film in there, but not enough so that I concern myself with it. If you go the AMW route, jsut make sure you have a loop of hose on the intake side of the can, I thin kthat this helps catch the oil as it gives the oil and fumes a chance to cool enough so that the can can catch it, there's alot less vaporized oil once the air flow is given a chance to cool off.... at least that's what I was told anyway.
Agreed. It's just the nature of the beast. However, you can minimize the consumption with a catch can as described in the above post.
get a big bucket, put the manifold in there, and top it off with simple green. then scrub the **** out of it with a tooth brush.
Or you could run a seafoam treatment.
I did the seafoam and it worked great for me.

Sorry, can't help on the cleaning.
How did you get oil in your intake 2001CamaroGuy?
I think you are refering to the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system. It opens a valve and lets hot exhaust gas into the intake under certain circumstances.
The EGR has the giant valve by the AC dryer and enters the top of the intake. The PCV sytem has a line entering the side of the intake and has the little valve that rattles when you shake it.

wow....went from no reply to 10 replies in one day
yeah....01+ don't have EGR but have PCV......
I guess I should have mentioned I don't have the PCV on the engine anymore (don't know how I forgot to mention that......should have known that would come up
)......I got the oil in the intake through the PCV (when it was there)........the oil that is in there now is leftover that I just can't seem to get out (a film) that just pisses me off more than anything.........that’s why I'm wondering if anyone has figured out something to soak the intake in/wash it out.....

Thanks for setting me straight on that one...
Have you tried spraying the intake down with degreaser and letting it sit for a while?

yeah...done that a couple of times.....the problem is I can't get the degreaser to "sit" up in the runners and on the top.....
Relax and just enjoy your car.
