Default New pacesetters recieved, my thoughts

Bought uncoated/painted through Byun. Welds look decent, F&F pretty darn good. Flange metal a little pitted (normal for mild steel). Stripped the paint off (whew! what a job) and repainted with red 1200* paint I got at Advance Auto. Took a lot of work, some paint stripper and a brush on the drill-boy that paint was on there good!
I would never do this again (strip paint) but money is tight right now and the Head Bookkeeper must be satisfied.
Bottom line for me, pre-install, is that the quality is good, it is mild steel and not SS after all, but I would advise getting coated headers, even for those on a low budget . As we know, SS is the good, long term alternative. I did lay out/dry fit the ORY (also pacesetters) and the headers and everything looks good.

Will try to install this weekend, if time permits. Have no help and have to work 1/2 day Sat so we'll see how it goes. Lets see if this 54 year old still knows his stuff.

The paint will flake off shortly enough. It doesn't matter what kind of paint you buy from advance auto/auto zone the only tried and true finish seems to be ceramic coating....

I'm with Kelly.

Painted headers shortly equal rusty headers.

i'm not a fan of byunspeed, they tend to bait-and-switch on their website.

I agree, been there done that with a 4 wheeler headpipe. Looks good for a little while, VERY little while. Then it peels off like you wouldn't believe.

Oh. Well I ordered some wires and got what I needed. Fast shipping as well. It was the cheapest place around since it's free shipping.

Yeah, I know the paint ain't gonna last forever. It will last long enough to get some pics of the bay with those red headers, though.
