solid motor mounts good or bad
Anyone have them on an ls1 and had problems with false knock or more vibration problems? Also will this help my pacesetter y-pipe from hitting the floor from the engine rocking to the side under power?

yes, it will help keep your y pipe from hitting the floor. as far as the false knock, i don't see a problem. not saying that it couldn't happen, but i haven't run across that yet. I would think that there are a lot better mods to get for your car (according to your sig) than solid mounts. They are one of my last mods when i was trying to squeeze every bit out of her. Are these for you or are you just wondering?

I have a mildly agressive set up and the poly mounts are more than enough. I read in the handling section that solid mounts introduce more stress on the block. I haven't seen any proof that it causes damage, but it seems reasonable that it could.

Get the prothane mounts, I just put mine in yesterday...kind of a pain in the ***, but doable in a garage. My car is off just now to T.J.'s house to get the exhaust put on. Should be started tomorow night.

Hey guys, I have a largely stock engine and a manual tranny and was wanting to get rid of the shifter movement under acceleration. It moves over to the right about an inch it seems and drives me nuts. I was considering replacing only the drivers side mount with a poly one, but am now considering a solid mount. Since the passenger side would be stock, the solid mount shouldn't stress the block or anything like that, but may reduce the engine twist a bit more than the single poly mount.
Has anyone considered taking an a used motor mount, burn out the rubber and then weld the whole thing togrther with steel plate? You'd have an instant solid motor mount for almost no money.
Or what about something like this?
