Default Pacesetter ypipe merge.

Whats the easiest way to clean out all that excess metal to get this thing to flow decent? I'm sure most of you know what i'm talking about but i'll post a pic anyway.

Replace the merge with a flowmaster collector. My car gained 3 tenths and 3 mph only changing the collector

That is just flat messed up. Mine doesn't look like that at all.
Only thing I can think of is cut the pipe with a sawzall or bandsaw, whack off the excess with a die grinder or sawzall and re-weld the pipe.

I could've just got a y-pipe made if that was what i was after. I dont want to spend anymore money on a y-pipe i alreadt bought. Good gain, though.

Scratch a few heavy marks on the pipes to start with to help align it when you go to reweld it after you cut it apart. I cut it open with a sawzall, used a plasma cutter, and a dremel to detail it. Ten minutes later, it was smoother than you could believe. Then have it welded back up. Good to go.

Well i do have access to someone who can weld and is going to be welding my cutout back in same day headers go on. Maybe i'll try that. My friend got a tool that might work, a little rotary thing with grinding wheels, may as well give it a try even though it may not be worth it.

I used a die grinder with with a grinding stone to grind all of that away. This is the one bad thing about the Pace y pipe

I used the dual 3 to 3.5 and a flowmaster cone reducer to get it back to 3"

This is what is on my car right now. Should i use this merge? what the hell is it? There is a part number on it if anyone knows the p/n to the flowmaster and can verify. How would i go about using this for the headers?

When I got my Pacesetter ORY I took care of that ugliness with a Dremel and a flex shaft attachment. Sooner or later I'm going to change that ghetto-fied area to a new collector. Probably a Flowmaster.

that looks alot like my flowmaster merge that came with my QTP y. get that thing welded in instead of that pacesetter merge. the one thing that flowmaster makes that actually flows
