is a cutout on a magnaflow CB worth it???

I have always heard that the magnaflow catback flows just as good as a cutout. is it worth it to put a cutout on the I-pipe???

I have LT's
custom 3" Y with flowmaster merge
MagnaFlow catback

I would stick with the magnaflow. It flows well and sounds good without rattling the interior. If you just want it louder do it...or better yet do two before the Y.

I decided to get a cutout for my Magnaflow. I heard the same thing about it flowing the same. I bought it beacause I wanted my car to be louder. I am not excpecting much of a gain if at all with it.

Maybe 1ish rwhp. Do it for sound only. I've got the magnaflow with a 3" cutout and I had a muffler shop make me a flange with about an 1 1/4" hole in it. The smaller hole on the cutout sounds much better than the cutout wide open IMHO. I don't have any interior resonance either, with the 1 1/4" plate. It now has the deep magnaflow sound, only more throaty/aggressive, but not obnoxiously loud like the full 3" cutout. I've experimented with my exhaust setup many times and this is my favorite sound so far.

the reason that I was asking is because when I get a cam, I was wondering if the cutout will help the car breath after the cam?

yes cause nothing out flows a cutout. I have one and I love it.... its not too loud either, but thats all opinion based...

I dont plan on having it open all the time. just when racing. I still have the cutout from my stock exhaust before i did LT, ORY, CB

I gained 3 rwhp and 4 tq through my cut out with a hooker cat back, with a cam I'm sure there would be more then that as well. For as cheap as they are they are not a bad thing to have. I still have cats so it doesn't even rasp when its open, really not that much louder.
