Default y-pipe-SES light-powerloss?

I took off my stock y-pipe, and the SES lights came on. It sounds real good, but I have heard that when the SES light comes on you loose power/bad for the car or o2 sensors. Is this true?

nope, just took the y-pipe off.it sounds really good to me. very deep, very loud. kinda harly-davidson like too. i was able to use the cross-panel supporter that rests under the y-pipe to keep the i-pipe supported too. heres some pics.

Well, the SES light comes on when you put an ORY on, because the cats are not there anymore. You should not set a light by having no Y pipe there, because essentialy what you have is 2 cutouts. So why not just put 2 cutouts on there so you can still use your catback when you want? Paradiddle - flamtap.

I have a cut out on the i-pipe, but it does not nearly sound as good. and this is surely a cost effecient method compared to the two cutouts (even though it is pretty cheap), but would a cut out even fit over the drives side of the stock y-pipe? it seems like it would get flat too quickly to install there. It only takes about 10-15 mins, so its not that hard/time consuming (i like working on the car whenever i get the chance) I am saving money quickly as i can for some pacesetters and an ory. It is a very interesting sound - i havnt heard any other camaro like it. I'll try to post a sound clip up soon on ls1sounds or something. paraparadiddle chees-a-diddle

Whatever floats your boat! I bet it is pretty loud. Rip those cats out of there, and it'll be a lot louder, too. Swiss Army Triplet, Tripple Ratamacue, Five stroke, Five stroke, Single Flammed Mill.

I say slap that y-pipe back on before you F up your valves, due to the short path back to them and the cool air that will flow up your manifolds when you let off the gas. You're also throwing a code because your rear 02s aren't present and the computer thinks you're polluting the crap out of the world. Save your money and do it right next time.

What about two cutouts after some lt's on a ory? that is what i am planning on doing in the future (whenever the money flow permits me) so wouldn't this creat the same problems as whati have right now? the exhaust would idealy be comming out the same place.

Now that I think twice about it, you're right. I was thinking the rear O2's were right behind the cats, before the y pipe.

Well what happens is that when you lose the cats most people either get 02 simulators or just have the 02 codes deleted off the PCM. That gets rid of the SES light. Also the place where a cutout(s) goes is way further away from the heads, especially with LTs.

They are, they are right near the openings of the pipes now. I doubt i will keep it like this much longer, even though it does sound nice would an ls1edit take care of all that programing?
