Question Clear smooth bellows?

I've got a clear airlid and the whole engine is being polished. The inside of the throttle body and maf ends are polished now. It's a shame to conceal the inside of the tb since it's so nice, has anyone heard of using clear tubing similar to a fernco to make a clear smooth bellows?

Silly question that just might pan out....

I personally think that could be really cool, but when I was looking into the Home Depot/Fernco route, I didn't see anything 3inch in diameter that was clear. I polished my TB too, and I hate how hidden it is.

I found a source through McMaster-Carr that has clear hose 3" id for $109 per foot. It's clear with some metal rings spaced every 1" within the plastic casting. That's the only kind I can find that has clear with the size and heat resitance. Anyone feel like splitting the cost with me on some high dollar "exotic" fernco tubing?

that's a really good idea... I've got a clear lid too and have been thinking of going SD and putting a smooth bellows in.

if we could make some kind of form, plexi-glass can be formed and molded with heat, now if it would stand up to the heat in the engine bay.... hmm....

good idea man

Definitely a cool idea...sounds like it might be a bit out of reach financially at this point though. Hopefully someone will step up in the manufacturing industry that could help...please?

Well if you cut the $109 dollar per foot peice in three sections you get it for $36.60 each. That's cheaper than the SLP bellow!

That's a good idea! I think I'll be making a trip to Lowes this weekend to see what I can do about that.

Yeah, but someone is going to have to bite the bullet and see if it yellows or anything under the heat...

You won't find it at Lowes. This was found through the largest plumbing supplier in the world. It took me 45 minutes on their website and this was the ONLY thing that was clear that was over 1.5 inches diameter and clear with enough heat resistance for our use. Plus it's anti-static. It won't build a charge when air passes through it. If you guys find something else let us know!

The smallest length is one foot. This is an industrial supplier that sells tons. They'd laugh if you called and wanted only 4" worth.

I'll probably do this later this month. I'm still polishing the heads and the block to go along with every thing else. I'm waiting on a deal to close to trade my LS6 intake for a polished Weiand manifold. The engine is going to look like one solid chunk of polished aluminum!
