Default ASP Underdrive pulley Question

Should I get the ASP Pulley 25% Harmonic Dampner Crank alone? Or should i get it with the 15% Alternator pulley? What would be the diffrence?
Thanks

The alternator pulley will just take away from your gains. You have an m6 and won't notice any negative effects unless you have a huge stereo system. Don't waste your money on the alternator pulley. Personally I think the SLP/powerbond pulley is better made.

Yea I have been reading and most people either have powerbond or ASP and both have seem to work out very well for mostly everyone. Where would I find a new tensionor or should I just use my stock one still?

I kept my stock one and it has worked great. Unless your stock one isn't working good, you shouldn't need a new one.

Everything I have seen with the SLP pulley is that it seems to have a dip in the hp and torque at about 5700 rpm's. I have seem many dyno's that show the dip, I believe it is due to the pulley not being perfectly balanced around that RPM. I would only go with an ASP if you can find one.

I think you are talking about the old SLP pulley. The new SLP/powerbond pulley does not have this problem. The new one is totally different. The old SLP pulley as well as some of the ASP pulleys have shown a dip in the curve. The new SFI balanced SLP pulley steel and very strong. The ASP is aluminum. The new SLP pulley also has higher belt retention walls. All the downfalls of the older design have been improved. No KR(powercurve dip), no belt slippage issues, etc.

The SLP website says that is weighs less than stock. I compared the two when I had my stock pulley off, and the stock one did feel heavier. Most of the gain is from the size of the pulley anyway. I'd rather have the stronger pulley even if it is heavier. The ASP's have a reputation for comming apart.

Are you saying that on idle that you can see the pulley shake? Is that why you said warpped like a ****?

If so get it off NOW. It should be smooth as glass when vehicle is on.

I just had the same thing happen and took it right off and put the new design one on and its perfect now.

I have the SLP pulley and have not had any problems at all. I went with the alt. pulley as well but thats just because I have a huge stereo system. The alt. charges the same as before the pulley install. The stock pulley does weigh more than the SLP one. Also if you ever have to remove the SLP pulley it has thereads like normal 350 chevy harmonic balancers have witch will eleminate damage to the pulley and make life easier.

YEP...it shakes pretty bad...can this possibly cause my stutter at high rpm due to the bad harmonics?

It could.

Also it will start causing wear to the internal of the motor bearings ect. You need to replace it asap. It should be smooth as glass. I would not drive it tell you can either put the stock one back on or get a new one.
