I have dual electric cutouts. It's not nearly as loud as open headers, trust me on that one haha

TTT

I have headers with a off-road Y and am wondering the same thing. I am thinking of keeping my stock catback and putting a cutout in the I pipe, instead of a aftermarket cat back.

I had 3in duals before on my Z, but i want to keep this car quite, then when i want it loud all i have to do is open the cutout

My opinion......a cutout on a non cammed car sounds like just plain redneck ****. Before my cam, I had it capped ALL the time when I wasnt racing. I say spend the money on a catback, its sounds SOO much better. And if you dont mind beind loud, and dont want to spend 750+ dollars, I would reccomend the TSP Rumbler catback. For 275, you cant beat it. And its PLENTY loud.

go true duals, with a good setup, you'll see more power than a cutout, not because of better flow, but because of an increase in velocity!

My Y is 3" from the headers into a 3.5" flowmaster collecter and then into a 3.5" I-Pipe. I have a 3.5" cut-out before the axle. Civilized on the street and power at the track.

I loose out on low rpm velocity which doesn't help my low end torque, but top end power is there becuase the flow is tremendous.

FWIW, most Y-pipes are crap. The design rams two different flows together at 30 - 45* angles into a single flow in the same size pipe, rather than merging the flows at a narrow angle and feeding into a larger pipe. Fix the design and performance improves.

Dual cut-outs on Y-pipes have not worked as well as expected. I'd do a single cut-out and get 90% of the benefit.
