EGR and AIR system removal
ok well im not going to do it yet but just want the basic info on how it is done exactly. so here goes, i unhook the air and egr and put the block off plates in there place, then i get them tuned out so i dont have egr and air anymore. is that all i need to do or am i missing something??? and also with the block off plates you just bolt them where the tubes use to bolt on and thats it right nothing more. the reason for these questions is that i want the pacesetter race style headers but dont know how easy it is to remove this stuff.

Yeah i believe thats pretty much it. I took out the Air EGR and my AC system out of my 98z i put a 04 ls6 z06 engine in my car. I also added Pacesetter LT's Race Style and ORY. I hadnt got the codes tuned out yet but it drives really great no problems with it. I also took out the Air Pump. Engine bay is so much cleaner now.

at least i got how to do it now all i need to do is do it lol. also the EGR or AIR can cause your exhaust to pop kinda right, i mean i take off and its mean as hell and with an open cutout you can imagine, but when i let off the throttle completely and then press the throttle again especially in D on the highway i get a pop sound not a backfire pop like a more exhaust coming through pop. anyone else have this???

I dont think its necessary to pull the fuses once they are removed with ls1edit or whichever programmer used. No problems here.
1 3/8 plug freeze plug is needed for the egr valve, can be found at Auto Zone, or any other parts store. Its $4-5 bucks.
Sounds like you have everything else covered.

could be less, mine was only $2 and change. The one i got was 1 1/4 to 1 3/8 or something like that, they have a range on them, if 1 3/8 is the second number it'll work, the other one which is 1 3/8 to 1 1/2 mi ght work as well but i'm just saying the one i tried that worked.

The point of removing the fuse and the relay is to make sure the car doesn't try to cycle through the AIR system... Its not a big deal and if you remove them with LS1 edit or HP tuners then you don't have to worry about a thing

well just cuz its a ws6 doesnt mean its faster, some ls1's just respond better to mods then others, and to answer the question about the egr and air relating to performance gains, no there is none-if anything it would take some weight off the car which is always good-but egr and air is strictly for emissions, it has nothing to do with the performance of the vehicle.
