Damn Emmissions

If i get long-tubes and an ory, will i need 02 sims no matter what? or only to pass emmissions? (i live in chicago)

o2 sims are only there to get rid of the SES light. If all you need to do is show that you are not throwing any codes when you go in to get tested, then you will be fine. That is if you buy the sims or get the code deleted via ls1edit or hptuners...

Double check though that all you have to do is show that you are not throwing codes, I am not real familier with Chicago emissions - from what I read though it sounds like they are not real strict.

I havn't had to take mine in yet but I was told they just plug in and the computer reads fine as long as your not throwing a code. I'm a little worried though, I have LT's with true duals, no cats and sweet thunder mufflers and a large cam. It's loud and something tells me they're gonna know somethings up.

Adding O2 sims is not the only way to get rid of the SES light. In order to get the most out of your LTs, you will have to get your car tuned. You can have the rear O2's deleted from the computer then, as well as the EGR, Air Injection, skip-shift, whatever you want.

I live in chicago too and I am due to go in for emissions soon. I read all the info on the emissions testing website and even called and asked specifically what the test entails. It's just an OBDII test, they check to make sure all emissions equipment is working properly (or at least the computer thinks its working correctly). I asked if they look under the car or inspect it, and they said no.

As far as I've heard yes. This is what I've read on the board, and what I was told by the shop who deleted my codes. I guess I'll find out when I go in a couple months.
