With the xr-1 it is not quite. There is rasp at 2200. It is not bad. There are times ithick it is to loud and others not. So it must be about right for me. But the car is loud, make no mistake.

Im going to have to agree with statement too!!! I have Mac Mid, Ory, Moroso Sprial flow and a GMMG. Without the muffler the car sounded like ****. With the muffler NO RASP, NO DRONE. I've said it before voted the Best sounding Race car by SCCA track offical at Beaver Run race track in April 04!
I did an HC package and had some lower than expected HP number's, Torque is smoking though!!! So i removed the Moroso and stuck a Dyno max Bullet in place so I could check it on the dyno. Car Sounds like **** again, LOTS OF RASP> I cant drive in city above 2,000 rpm if a cop is around. I havent been back to the dyno yet. Later John

anyone replaced the loudmouth muffler with a powerstick from classic chambered exhaust inc., they make a 3inch in/out that will work in the loudmouth. its a little less expensive than the borla too.

yeah you will need the 3in inlet and 3in outlet round xr1

I find it ammusing when people act surprised about how raspy and loud any Loudmouth is.
The borla helps, but it's still raspy unless youre at WOT. Driving arround will still be raspy when you get on it in the mid RPMs. Not near as bad though.

the reason i got my ls1 is because they are bad *** motors and because they sound mean my car came with a 3in borla y and corsa cat back it sounds nice but i wish it was louder my buddy has LM cat back and i think they sound good.

Is it not possible to use clamps with an XR-1?
I have a LM2 that I don't like the drone of at all. Fine with it at idle, low load, and WOT. But steady accel at low RPM booms like hell imho. I'd like to try something else but I don't like the 1-wayness of welding.
