I'm pretty sure thats the part number I used (for LS1 Vette) I can't see why it wouldn't, and if it doesn't bring it back, and its only 5 bucks anyway

If you are still having problems with oil consumption after installing the pcv, you could try the ls6 valley cover to change the pcv pickup location from the valve covers to the valley cover. It should help with your oil consumption also.

do all of you guys use synthetic? i read an article (can't remember which mag) that stated that "the use of synthetic oil could compound oil consumption". the previous owner of my car ran conventional oil in it since it was brand new, and had no oil consumption what so ever. just wondered if anyone was running conventional oil in there ls1 and still used oil.

my consumption was worse w/ mobil1 ... but mobil 1 is also a less viscous oil .... aka thinner. But with regular pennzoil i'd go thru a decent amount of oil inb/w changes. Now i run the german castrol and it has greatly reduced my oil consumption.

The only thing that I would worry about is if that small PCV hole would scavenge enough crankcase pressure under WOT with H/C and nitrous. does anyones oil dipstick ever get pushed out?

Restricting the PCV is a bad idea, the pressure is going to go someplace. May be ok for a truck, as a 'GM' kind of fix.

Isn't a "PCV" system a positive crankcase ventilation system, using manifold vacuum to scavange blow-by and other stray vapors from the engine? If so, and with that smaller hole on the Fix valve, that would creat a higher velocity thru the valve. In a n oil rich environment, it would seem to suck more available oil. But I could be wrong, hell they (GM) are the experts. To me, the best set-up is the LS-6 valley cover set, but I will be willing to give the cheaper of the two the first shot, when I get my car finished. It is just huge piles of disassembly on the garage floor right now.

I'll stick to my AMW. It will stop the oil, as long as its installed properly. I opened mine at 1000 miles after it was installed(by the guy that put my new motor in) and to my suprise it was clean as the day it was put in. I guess the hoses weren't installed right. My fault, I should of just done it myself.

Very good info! A lot cleaner than running a catch can.

Well, I read this part of the forum too late. I just installed the AMW catch can on mine
yesterday. Oh, well - it's only money.

I've had the AMW catch can on my car for over 2 years now. Let me just say this, after I switch to this new PCV, unless my catch can is 100% COMPLETELY bone dry at my next oil change. I'll be keeping the can on my car w/ the new valve. I've seen how much oil my car was/would have been sucking into my engine by what the can catches. So it'll take some very amazing results before I pull the can off my car.

With all that oil in the intake how do you go about cleaning it out without taking it off?

either stop the oil from getting in there and let vacuum to the rest, or seafoam - although it may take quite a few seafoam treatments to get that intake clean
