Whats the most restricitve part of my WS-6 exhaust?
I have a basically stock, except for a lid WS-6 M6.
I am not interested in making a lot of noise. I would like to increase performance.
Is the stock Y pipe really that bad? Is there a replacement that I can use with the rest of the stock system?
I don't think a catback will really make much difference without significantly increasing air flow with heads and cam and intake.
Thoughts?

The y-pipe is not the most restrictive part of the exhaust, it's about the least restrictive part. The choke points in the stock exhaust go in order from most restrictive to least restrictive:
1. Stock WS6 catback. The SLP Dual Dual flows much better.
2. Stock exhaust manifolds. After you get a free flowing catback, nothing else will gain you much power until you address this serious choke point.
3. Stock y-collector. Not the y-pipe, but the y-collector itself.
4. Stock cats. These are not a restriction until you free up the above 3 items. Do them last.
5. Stock y-pipe. Flows pretty well, even with the oval shaped pipe.

If so, in your opinion, which flows the best with the least amount of cruising, part throttle noise? WOT can be as loud as it wants.
