Not to mention the kooks y-pipe, which is one of the best flowing longtube/y-pipe combinations.

IF the pipe is 2"flat--it flows the same as 2" round------look at NASCAR,DR.GAS,and some others....ask your friendly neighbourhood muffler guy who has been doing it for a long time--he"ll tell you the same thing.... --and while we are debating this--ALL flow charts from muffler companies use water, not airflow---this makes a 100% difference in how a given muffler will flow...

I'm not disagreeing, just wondering... Seems like the flow might change a little (even though the volume hasen't changed), do to the agressive change in shape at the begining of the flat part of the pipe.

That's not totally correct. The 93-95 LT1 Camaros had one cat in the Y-pipe, while the 96-97's had two. 98-02 LS1 cats bolt between the manifold and the y-pipe. They are not part of the pipe at all. My stock Y and cats are sitting in the spare room collecting dust as I write this.

That doesn't apply to 98's and 99's. The passenger side cat is connected to the y-pipe in these years.
