Both but power more so.

Most all catbacks flow around same so sound and quality fitment etc matter a great deal also.

I voted sound since my car is a DD. I drive the car all the time so I hear the car all the time. Having a nice sounding catback/exhaust is a must for any type of muscle car if you ask me.

On the contrary, if your car is mainly a track warrior, then the HP gains would obviously be prioritorized.

Check out some local fbod's in your area and/or look on ls1sounds.com to pick out a nice sounding exhaust. I'm sure you won't regret it. Hooker catback here with FLP LT's and ORY= SWEET sounding exhaust. And I am quite picky about my exhaust sounds.

Thanks,
Thats what I thought, but there been some guys posting that a catback would get more power than a dual. Damn haters, Its going to be on with the true duals now.

All catbacks make very close to the same HP gains. Pick the one you like the sound of and call it a day.

I see a lot of posts where people say that duals make more power. Is there anything substantial to back up these claims? Or are we just sounding more powerful???

Sound. Went for HP for 4 years, but now want to drive it without turning EVERYONE's head. I like a quieter stock driving 430+ hp car.

I will take power everytime! I just removed the LM in favor of the Borla setup. No cats, and XR-1 made the LM unbearably Ricer sounding!

Sound. As people have said, cat-back systems are going to make similar gains that the only difference between them is their sound. I'd rather have a snarling, loud, mean and ungodly deep exhaust especially vs the most powerful that doesnt sound as good - especially if we're talkin a ~2-5hp difference.

All cat-backs produce similar gains and have similar restriction's on power, so why would you not choose sound. I'd much rather have people say wow your car sounds amazing than for someone to say man your car sounds terrible. And I say well I got 5 extra hp though. Who cares is what they will say.

Running headers with no cats and a loudmouth (with a XR-1 Borla muffler I was told) was just too much. It sounded Ricer loud to me and there was very little low end torque. I was convined it was due to the lack of backpressure. I removed the LM and replaced with an adjustable Borla and I believe now I have more low end Torque because of the back pressure. It sounds so much better as well. I am running with a medium plate.

Ditto. Their is no better sounding exhaust on the market for that price. TD's with sweet thunders might be nicer but have alot louder tone. Also, I'd have to say since the hooker is crossflow and the sweet thunders are a 'loverured core' type muffler nither flows as good as a bullet style muffler. For example, the loudmouth flows great, but sounds like fat *** without an additional resonator (which would marginally restrict flow).
