Thats not possible! 90/90 set ups are only for big cube motors.

A Fuel injected engine can use way more throttle area than a carburated one.
You will see improved torque production through out the rpm range. On gen 3 vehicles the mass air sensor will keep with the fuel needs. You will need to some programming for start up on drive by wire cars. This we offer for free with the purchase of our throttle.

I have just finished testing our Oval which is 75X90 MM, and our 90MM round on my stock CTS-V. Terrific throttle reponse for both , I then installed an LS2 throttle, very soft light throttle feel you had to use a lot of pedal.

All of the above combos were on Modified LS6 intakes

SUX2BU was being sarcastic

Satisfied TPIS 90mm TB customer here! These guys know their intake stuff.
The oval ls6 intake looks real interesting. I'd like to see some comparo #'s vs. 90mm FAST LSX.

Yeah i was being sarcastic. i have a 90/90 set up on my stock internal car and love it.
I too have a TPIS 90mm TB, it sticks just a **** hair sometimes at 1,500 rpm's but nowhere near as bad as the FAST TB's. I'll probably just take the tb apart and give it an extra wind on the spring.
That and the PCV conection on my TPIS tb is before te blade instead of after, but since i disabled my pcv system a while ago that don't matter me none. It does give it a cool whistling sound at a certain part throttle point.

I'm glad you like the whistle because it is damn near impossible to get out of our ETC Oval tb the cable style don't have the problem. The whistle in your 90MM is the shape of the IAC passage. We have conquered that and the late one have been fixed for the most part,
stock cam with high idle vacume are a problem, why would you still have a stock cam? Also the pvc port has been fixed. We found that the cruise control would sometimes cause the tb to stick a little.
This months Street Thunder mag will have a very big manifold test that we did. It will give numbers to chew on. We will have a limited number of copies that we will offer. This is a really cool club publication.
I took the LS2 tb off my V it was just to soft on accel .wot felt ok. Put our 90MM back work bitchen.

I was going for a MAX effort cam only car but ran short on cash twards the end and just threw a stock cam in it. Went pretty fast and decided to see how fast i can go "SI" and i need to keep the gas milage up since its my only car and i drive it 90+ miles a day.
I kinda figure it will work ALOT better when i throw a cam in it this spring once i move closer to my job.

cephiros,
You may have missed my point. Ceramic coating the inside of an intake manifold will definitely lower the intake air temperature (unless your running your block temps lower than air temps--lots of ice) On a 'dry' intake (no coolant) thermally isolating the intake from the heads will allow the intake to remain cooler. I would leave the exterior of the manifold uncoated to let it radiate the heat quicker. Unfortunately, almost anything you do to aluminum will do little after the engine has run with the hood closed after about 20 minutes. The exterior of the block, heads, and any attached aluminum parts will be hotter than you would want your intake air charge to be. Fords upcoming supercharged Lightning might use a heat exchanger from the A/C unit to cool the intake charge when needed. Dont know if the A/C requires more hp to drive than what you would gain on a NA engine, but it might be interesting to have a way of 'pre-chilling' the intake manifold prior to a run. Or you can just use nitros....

Im considering getting this BBK piece and this thread has helped me out alot.

However as for the heatsoak issue, I just wanted to add something else into the mix. Take for instance, the stock engine, with the composite intake. The intake doesnt absorb the heat and dissipate it, so then the heat would remain in the heads correct? But if the BBK intake absorbed however much heat from the heads, and then dissipated it, to the same air that would be going to the heads on a stock engine, wouldnt the change in temperature be even less significant? I know its probably not the best theory, but the heat hast to go somewhere, and the composite intake doesnt just make it go away, and if I understood what was expressed early in the thread about the stock water temp gauge allowing room for fluctuation in the coolant (except for 98 cars), then wouldnt all of the same heat be right there with the air? What do you think? And if this makes no sence than just explain why, not looking for an arguement here.

I wonder why they didnt use a composite intake on the ZL1 cars?

let me state, since it hasnt been stated before, composit intakes do ahve a tendancy to warp, some are better than tohers in this aspect.

now back to thi, most of the heat that the aluminum intake takes is dissapated thorugh the entire engine block adn taken away by the cooling system, however you are correct, the heads are a bit hotter than with an aluminum intake, however the air is only in the heads and out, as opposed to going though all the aluminum surface area of the intake adn removing heat thorugh all of that, and then the heads

im tried so im not really up to arguing tonight so i wont go any more indepth than that, tis bed time for me work at 4

One of the jobs of the intake is to provide cool air to the combustion chamber. nothing does this better than a composite. As for coating the inside of a intake, getting a coating to stick on the inside of an aluminum intake is somethings we would not try. None of the aluminum intakes will make more power than a stock LS6 intake. And our modified LS6 will do much better.

on a 100% bone stock car would a 90/90 loose power in any rpm range what so ever?

I have the BBK Intake Manifold and it is a very nice piece. I can't stand the look of the composite manifolds (unpainted, dunno bout painted haven't seen one). Next month I will have dyno comparison of whisper lid, !MAF, ported tb, LS1 intake to LG lid (88.9mm), 85mm Z06 MAF, ported BBK 80mm TB, BBK 85mm Intake Manifold. Then if any of my friends have LS6 Intake/FAST 90 I could borrow to test comparison that would be cool but I dunno if anyone would be willing.

Next year (when I get bored) I may get 90mm TB and port/hone the BBK and probably drop MAF with SD for basically 90mm of air flow and see if I gain much. I vote for BBK because I have a LOT more I can do with it.

In the rpm range that most people drive in the you will not loose any power.
what you will feel is much improved throttle response in the seat of your pants. See our web site under whats new and look at the great manifold test.
As for cost we charge $350.00 to convert a LS6 intake to either our TPIS oval entry our 90mm entry. We now have our TPIS f-car throttles available outright, no exchanges. Soon to follow will be the Y-car. WE also have a harness adapter to use the LS2 throttle on early y-cars.
