There's LM and LM II to be fair. The II has a nice resonator that isn't too bad when behind cats.

With my headers and catted-y, the II sounds killer all around (highway and in town/idle). I'm glad I went with cats. I couldn't ask for a better sound.

I've had the LM since day one of my car, from stock to cam-only TR224, to iron block 370 with 244/244 cam, to my current 408 setup with LT/ORY. I absolutely loved this exhaust system up until this point. It sounded kickass but now it's just raspy as hell. Here is a vid to show you what I mean. And just a bit of info, the rasp you hear in this crappy as vid is about 1/4 of how it actually sounds (and that's just at idle!). When I'm driving and get to the magical 2k rpm point it absolutely sucks to listen to, it hurts your damn ears. I granny shift now just so I don't have to hear the rasp, plus I can deal with not getting pulled over by A-hole cops where I live. I really gotta find a new exhaust setup. I say anything other than big cube LT/ORY setups go with LM b/c it really does sound badass.

I listened, and I'll keep the LM...

It's louder & more raw ; the GMMG was smoother and lower toned , and sounded really good, but it's just not "make everyone stop what they're doing and look" good. I'm pretty darn sure I've got less back pressure, too.

Better is in the ear of the beholder...

I love my lm wouldn't trade it for anything and next week im putting on Pacesetter lt's and ORY so im pretty excited about how it's going to sound but just to be fair i think i'll point out that the gmmg is $800 and people still buy it when they have plenty of other options so apparently those boys at GMMG are doin somethin right with their exhaust

The Loudmouth sounds good on cars with stock manifolds, but I can't stand how they sound on cars with longtube headers. My friend has the GMMG on his Formula with stock manifolds and it sounds great. I've heard the GMMG on a few cars with longtubes and it sounds even better.

I gotta go GMMG. I have heard both in person and I think the GMMG has a deeper sounding tone. Granted its more costly but the sound is worth it. We all know sound is subjective but I will be getting GMMG fo sho!

In the original LM, the 4" resonator is welded into teh I-Pipe, but in the LMII, it's got clamps so you can change the bullet muffler for the resonator...

There are also retro-fit kits to change your original LM to a modular LMII...

I vote gmmg, love the chamber exhaust sound. I have stainless works catback chambered exhaust on my 04 GMC Serria. My 02 SS is hopefully getting LT, high flow cats, and the GMMG or stainless works over the winter.

Its all personal preferance, but like the vote shows the GMMG chambered is simply better.
