Perfectly normal for a '99-'02 car. Your gage will always read right about 210 any time coolant temp is in the 175-230 range.
A scanner is needed to see real coolant temps.
Either way, the only drop in temp you will see is at cruise until you reprogram the fans to cut on sooner (or get a fan switch).

As he said and also what most do not realize is the T-stat is reverse flow so the temp it sees on the back side is about 15 degrees hotter where the temp gauge sender is. These cars run there best a little warm 190* is optimal.

Yeah, I installed a 160 tstat, and went in with hptuner and I think I set the 1st fan at like 175 and the 2nd fan temp at 182-4, somewhere in there. is this to cold for the motor to run at full potential, should I wwarm it up a little, and will runing at these temps cause it to run to rich? thanx for any info
