Default KOOKS install, ARRRGGG!!

EDIT: as posted below, George R. at kooks is doing a great job with fixing the issue. I would definately reccomend them... just for the pure fact they will fix it if it's not correct. AND he is paying for shipping. Class act!

Well.. after i waited over a month and a half to get my coated Kooks 1-7/8" headers...

I have been installing them this weekend and ran into more issues than i care to think of. First, the passenger side. The header went in really easy... however one of the primaries HITS the K-member!! After everything is bolted down and in correct position, the top rounded portion of the k-member is hitting a primary!!!

Tomorrow (monday 12/12/05) Kooks will be recieving a phone call. I will keep you updated.

Wow man, that sucks! My pacesetters went in like butter. I'm surprised you're having issues. Good luck.

when i installed my kooks stepped headers(1 3/4 to 1 7/8) i had to drop the oil filter, undo the motor mount, and jack the motor up, then it went in. this was on a drive-on lift nonetheless.

i love my kooks, they're just a pain to install when its above 1 3/4. i wish there was more leeway on the drivers side. oh well. fwiw, i think you're going to run into issue installing once you go 1 7/8 regardless what brand you get. its just the larger diameter piping. now....resting on the k-member, thats a different story.

call george @ Kooks, he'll take care of you.

my paceseters slid in like butter as well, Kooks are stainless steel and yeah they will look better longer, but 325.00 for pacesetter coated headers shipped, well i couldnt resist. And they went right in with no problem.

Hang in there man. IIRC there was another guy that had a tough time with 1&7/8" Kooks, so at least you're not alone. Hopefully your efforts will payoff in the end.

Dude, Pacesetter's doesn't make 1 7/8 headers, I'm sure the Kooks 1 3/4 go in much easier.

I was goin to install my Kooks 1 7/8's this weekend, but did a motor swap on CAT3's car instead

HEY, Pacesetter owners...re-read thread. No one cares about your buttery tubes. 1 3/4 vs. 1 7/8...NOT THE SAME. Pacesetters vs. Kooks...not the same.

Sorry DanO, I'm curious to hear about their 'explanation'. I know Drew and Cat3 had a few (cough, cough) 'issues' with them as well. QTP's are looking better and better...

Drivers side: Put the header in by holding is up and down. Put it up and then turn it once it is up by engine. SHould go right in. You have to jack the car up high.
