Question ls6 intake swap

hi guys. i was getting ready to do a ls6 intake swap on my z [the mods are in my sig].and i know i have to toss the egr and have the codes cleared.i was reading the article on ls1how to site and i think i can do it. do i have to get rid of the a.i.r system to? dont really worry about the sniffer test.i was wondering what i use to block the egr header pipe?

AIR can stay.

EGR has to go unless you got the SLP version with the EGR.

You will get a code; but get it can be deleted with hptuners or LS1edit.

Easy install, just dont brake any sensors or get anything caught under the intake when you are putting it on. Also you are going to need two rear coolant plugs and a crossover pipe for the swap.

Since emissions are not a concern get rid of the AIR and EGR.

Block off plates from our sponsors will take care of the provisions on the manifolds.

Happy holidays to you too.

LS1speed.com has the block off plates you're looking for and I went to TSP for the coolant lines.

Thunder Racing sells them I believe...Speed Inc. does as well.

You can get the kit for the swap from most of our sponsors I believe. I know that SLP sells the kit. I just got mine from the Delearship. Was around 50 bucks. I can get you the part numbers if you want...

So if someone is installing LTs and an LS6 intake mani at the same time, theyll need...?

GM coolant lines for intake
GM coolant plugs for intake

What else?

What plates are necessary to get rid of the AIR and EGR system?

Thanks,

I wouldnt need the EGR exhaust block off plates as the LTs dont have EGR provisions
Wouldnt need the EGR intake plug as the LS6 ine i have doesnt have one.

So, then, all I would need is the 'LS1 AIR Block-off Plates' for the swap?

?

No on the AIR block off plates. Cause the headers dont come with the provisions.

You will also need the get those codes tuned out. Or just live with them.

I did this swap about a year ago. I custom made block-off plates for the EGR, but kept the AIR. One thing that you need to be aware of that I wasn't until after: Watch Out For The Oil Pressure Sending Switch!!! It's located right behind the manifold and there's a hose that goes behind it. If you pull the intake out before removing the hose, you'll be buying a new oil pressure sending switch!! I did!!! Just be careful pulling the intake. The oil pressure sending switch is tall (about 2") and has a body made of cheap plastic - very easy to break the top off. Do a search on it and you'll see what I'm talking about!! Good luck!
