Check out the link this will give you a better Idea of just what a cut-out does. Pretty much like open header depending where it's mounted.

http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/

definitley louder than any exhaust.

The LM is almost as loud as cut-outs, depending on where you cut into the exhaust pipe. Powers is about the same. Get the LM or another, quieter exhaust and cutouts...

i think in efforts to save money im going to just leave it like it is, all stock w/ flowmaster muffler welded in, then put the elec. cutout in

i hear there is a spot under the passenger seat?

n e reason not to do this?

Sounds like a good plan: cheaper install and the best of both worlds...

hmmmm.... if i were you, id save a few extra bucks and get the new longtubes qtp is offering. about 720 if i remember, but they are polished stainless steel, and now include the high velocity merge collector. other than a 1 7/8 primary header, these are the BEST flowing headers hands down. there is a thread about em here in this section. it will be well worth the extra money seeing as how the will increase low end torque and never rust or fall apart.

The "I' pipe. It extends from the Y-pipe to the rear axle.

Something tells me you have no idea what is going on under your car. Jack it up one day and have a look.

the y lookin pipe that the Qtec is connected to in the pic is the cutout. You can buy that separately and just uncap it when you want loud rather than spend all the money on the qtec. Their only like $40.

not sure about the inspection, but uncapping is easy. just get on the ground (some companys sell an uncapping tool so you don't burn yourself) and loosen the wingnuts. Cap will Either twist off through slots or just pull off the bolts. Do some research on the kinds of cutouts. I'm sure there are tons of pics of them on the net that will help you undersatnd a little more.
