Default what is the best antifreeze?

I had my dexcool flushed and put in regular antifreeze. Now i know regular antifreeze isnt good for the aluminum blocks and water pump because of the high silicon. What is the best antifreeze to use that has little to no silicon?
I dont plan on using any dexcool so that out of the question. Thanks guys.

It gums up when mixed with the green antifreeze.

As far as it turning acidic and eating aluminum, thats just wrong. The pH level of antifreeze does not change, it is the water mixed with the antifreeze that changes do to electrolysis, this happens when the vehicles electrical current passes through the coolant (happens in all vehicles). This is the reason for flushing the cooling system. The Dex-Cool stabilizes the pH level for a longer period of time than the conventional antifreeze.

You can run straight water with a water wetter depending upon where you live. However it is very possible that you can develop drivablility problems such as missfires. This is due to the coolant absorbing too great amount of current, which is possible with running straight water. (This exact prblem occured in our shop 2 days ago. You could stick a probe from a labscope into the radiator and read 5 volts passing through the coolant.)

GM has to pay the bill for all warranty work done at dealerships, the dealership makes the money, not GM, so GM wouldn't want anything that will cause extra repairs to be done.

Dexcool is what your motor is supposed to have. My engine, before modding, had 67,000 miles on it. I never opened the radiator cap until about 50,000, it was crystal clear (for brown liquid anyway) and full.

GM is changing to Zerex G-05 anti-freeze/coolant as the factory fill.

you can mix the green and orange, but it will kill the protective additives in the dexcool. I've done it with no Ill effects.

Dexcool will turn to mud if you have somewhere air is leaking into the system, so it is important to keep an eye on it.

Just use dexcool in our cars.

Yes there is, but not much, probably not enough unless you use at least two bottles.

Water + Aluminum just sounds like a bad idea to me. Why do you think GM uses Dexcool...

GM has had problems with their antifreeze selection in the past. so it is possible for them to mess up.
