http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugede...id=2909&sid=15
i installed this autometer tach.
white=ignition
green=(too PCM)white number 10
black=ground
red=constant
tach light come's on with ignition.when my car is turning over the guage move's,but when it fire's up it dont move.i did a search and someone was saying the guage might have to be sent to autometer to be adjusted for a v-8.are there anymore things that i can try?

i just got off the phone with a friend that also said something about taking the back cover off and clipping a wire.the tach didnt come with any instructions either.
i looked at the back cover and there were 3 bolts.

Also, double check you hookups. Red should not be a constant power supply but a switched, like ignition. White should be hooked to a dash light power supply. This is according to Autometers instructions.

Just physically checked mine and my ORANGE wire is clipped. Works perfectly.
Here's a link to Autometer PDF files for installations. I know they say no wires are clipped for V8's but that's not right.

those wires that have the connectors should be sticking out the back of the gauge. but it looks like someone connected them again. well ls1 pcms send out a signal as if it was a 4 cyl. on autometer tachs out of the factory come setup for 8 cyl. those wires with the connectors are the ones that you use to configure your tach from 8cyl,6cyl and 4cyl. if no wires are cut it's 8cyl which is how you have it set right now. but since you need a 4cyl signal so you need those wires cut which is the brown and orange wires. just make sure those wires are not connected and it will work, it looks like the brown wire is off the board already so just remove the conector from the orange and you'll be in business.
