Default moroso spirals

has anyone heard the moroso spirals, on ls1 sounds they sound a little more toned down than the ST's. also has anyone seen the cfm flow of the moroso's. any input would be appriciated.

Can't give you any hard numbers but several have reported that the spiral flows choked up their cars. Flo Pro makes a Twister series muffler that flows about the same as a straight through bullet. They are quiet at idle but have a raw sound when you get on it. How much power are you looking to make?

Similar concept but the Flo Pros seem to work better than the Morosos. If your putting these in duals I can't imagine that two 3" Morosos would choke a 400rwhp car to much. If you like the sound, give'em a try.

I am pretty sure that they are the same muffler, they look identical from what I have seen. I have the flo pro and am making 400 cam only with an a4, so I don't think they are restrictive at these power levels.

I recall Lane doing a back to back dyno test on a bullet muffler and a moroso spiral flow and didn't see a drop in HP.

http://moroso.com/catalog/images/94050_group.jpg

that is a link to the moroso

Im wondering if the same company doesnt make the muffler for both. The moroso mufflers are not black either. I have seen that pic before but I have never seen a black one and I have built plenty of systems using them.

The difference is the twisters have the spiral run continuously through the muffler while on the spiral flow it is sort of broken up. Look closely at the pictures , you will see what I mean. Also, the twisters can be had in a couple of different lengths. I went with the 19" ones and couldn't be happier.

There's no discerable difference in flow according to Lane. The spiral flow concept is fairly new, so alot of people will think it's restrictive. But when you think about it, there are no sharp bends and restriction in a spiral path.

i had them on my true dual / x-pipe combo. loved them. wasn't worried about flow cause my LS1 intake on the 382 all bore engine was doing the BIG choking, hahaha.

everyone complimented me on how it sounded, and considering they were all mustang people saying it was the best f-body they heard, not too shabby

I couldn't find the thread, but I also remember his test. If my memory serves me right, the Twisters came within 1.5rwhp of the bullets. They where back to back pulls in the same session.

Did somewhat of a dyno compare with my 2.5" Moroso's. My true duals are flanged at the rear axle, so I can remove the rear section easily. Before the LS6 cam and on stock heads, there was virtually no difference between having the mufflers on and having them off. I'm talking about maybe 1hp difference. Power at that point was 350hp, same dyno, same day, pretty much equivalent conditions. Roughly 30 minutes between muffler and free flow pulls... Far as I'm concerned, that's pretty good evidence to me. For the sound they produce, I'm happy with the flow. I prefer the Moroso's over bullets...
