Please READ what I wrote...I said it would not be easy, if even possible. I didn't say it was impossible, as anything is possible with enough time and money. At a bare minimum, you'll have to do some clearancing of the heat shielding. I'm relatively sure it WILL NOT work WITHOUT clearancing of some sort.

The only reason this isn't commonplace is the fact that for most people, something like this is simply too expensive for what you get out of it. I have thousands of dollars tied up in my exhaust, and I would say it doesn't perform much (if at all) better than a good y-pipe setup. It is what I wanted though, so I did it.

If you want less of a headache, I'd reduce it down to a 2.5" pipe. Mine is 3" into my X crossover, and reduces to 2.5" directly after that junction. For me, the 2.5" reduction wasn't much of an issue...it was going to have to be reduced at some point due to my CME tips that I refused to get rid of.

I'm sure it possible, but it will be more difficult plus possible sacrifice ground clearance. Now an H pipe that would be easy.

But most X setups the X would be right where the t/a bolts onto the floor pan. so the only option is to move the X forward, but there's only so much room due to the header collectors and gearbox.

If you go for a trans mounted t/a then it probably won't be such an issue.

Yep I agree, the easiest and IMO the best alternative for duals is 3" from the collectors into 3" Random Technology 7000 Series Metal Matrix CATS, these cats flow better than many mufflers and will not impede flow even on a 500bhp motor (but they must be the 3" ones), then into an X-pipe (Magnaflow make some nice ones), you could either go with a 3" X pipe, but a 2.5" one will be fine and better for clearance and location. Then into some 2.5" chambered mufflers (Powerstick or Stainless Works, these flow more than well enough for well over 500bhp) over the axle and into 3" tips.

The brace works well, and makes things alot easier with 2.5 or 3 inch.

I fabbed up my true duals with 2.5 both over the pass side axle. I had to remove my upper PHB to fit even the dual 2.5's. I didnt notice any issues driving without the PHB for a couple of months BUT when I finally fabbed up my own upper PHB, I certainly noticed the car drove a lot more solidly. I would suggest either going with the BMR relocation kit, or atleast finding a way to clearance the stocker so you can keep it.

I dont give two ***** about physics here...Ive proven this with many different build ups of exhaust setups in the last 5 years....They have all made more power....I stock cubed, stock headed 346 went faster with a 1 7/8 primary and 3.5" duals then with a 1 3/4 and a 3" dual setup.

Was each car tuned to their max potential (as in NOT effects-based tuning)?

didnt have a change on A/F when we did...nothing was changed cept for the headers and duals. this was initial change (first impression)

So was this just an impression, or do you have actual track results? From your former post, it sounded like this was verified by time slips.

Bottom line: it isn't really a fair comparison as changing the exhaust needs tuning to maximize the benefits...

dyno was only initial results...Timeslips proved the rest for us...Picked up ALOT on the dope. thats all we wanted to see. Tuning them would have skewed our results. Had we tuned then it would skewed the results dramatically and made even more power. We knew something was well when we needed to jet up on the fuel side of the nitrous after the first 2 passes and the car picked up even more.... Means its effectively moving the ehxaust away from the head.

my setup is Stainless Works lt's, 2.5 inch catted y pipe,( random tech hi flow cats 2.5 inch) SLP 3" d/d factory exaust and you can see my numbers in my sig. This isnt a drag queen so I dont have 1/4 mile numbers but it should hit 11's all day and 10's on the juice. You dont need stepped headers under 500bhp, you should read up on scavenging and and cylinder size and exaust size and length. There have been a few very good posts to explain the physics behind it, bigger is not always better.

I ran stepped and straight on my car...Stepped picked up...Of course you may be stuck with your noses in the books, so i dont expect you guys to understand real world data....if it were all about books then we would be in a totally different situation and things would be lots different and not work. Bottom line is, Car Craft dynoed the same stuff with the same results...but physics said it wouldnt work...thats what seperates the fast cars from the ones that should be fast. Which category are you in?

So you are running an untuned car on the dope?

And the way I see it, tuning might have actually brought the two results closer together.

Either way, I'd personally like to see a dyno overlay to see what effect it had on the power band.

I guess I'm in the slow car club, w/373 gears and my power my car just barely gets out of its own way. Sits on he side of the road and is just purty to look at. What were the results without nitrous? What about your torque what happenend to it? You are a true legend(in your own mind). I havent lost a street race yet, but we dont talk about those things around here. My car isnt a drag queen track times dont really mean squat to me, its how it handles and drives in the real world that I care about. I avg 366 ft lbs of tq (mustang dyno numbers). Thats power on demand without having to be on the bottle. Course I have a bottle just in case its needed, but hasnt been yet. Lets see the overlay, you have a stock bottom end and swapped straight lts for stepped ones, no other changes to the car at all and n/a runs to prove me wrong that would be great to see.
