Default Need Your Input/Help Valvecovers *PIC'S*

Im up in the air right now..... ive been working on a set of stockers and i have the coilpack brackets cut and sanded off..... going to keep sanding till i reach 600 grit sandpaper... then polish them out.
Currently they look like this.....

What shold i use to fill the holes??
Ive had others say get someone to Tig weld it closed.... but ive also heard of them splotting and ruining the valve covers....
Should i just leave the holes and just polish them out??

Or go with a set like this from Na$ty Performance

Im going to at least finish these up and see what they look like before i go with a different set........
I think both will look good on this......... when finished

What do you guys think??
Thanks
Kyle

seems like this thread was more meant to show off you setup than a question about the valve covers.

however id suggest the ones from nasty or have the holes filled.

Hehe, sounds like an appearence question to me

No doubt, go with the welded ones. Take a look at Tony's red '69 for what they look like chromed.

I am sure the stockers will look good when u are finished,...but the aftermarket ones will always look meaner and better due to their size alone....lookin good though.

I'd save money and keep the stockers. Several hundred $$$ could be used on other stuff.

You don't even have to weld (you should, but dont have to) polish the covers, fill with epoxy and paint the epoxied holes black. Consider it "character."

** How about this: You have the rest of the motor satin colored. Why just have one or two items polished? Why not paint the valve covers, water pump(minus pulley), and the other misc parts to "tie it together" the same metallic green?

You can fill the holes with epoxy which will be covered completely by the color!

One question...why did you attach a hairdryer to your car? Doesn't that just add weight? Looks slow to me

Get the after market covers...it is obvious you spared no expense to this point. Why quit now?

I think you should keep with the overall theme, which is "Big is always better"
Big hairdryer = Big Valve covers

Although I do like the idea of painting them Green

I attempted to remove the coil bosses from a set of stockers and then have them chromed...the problem that I ran into is getting the divots TIG welded without pits...the welder tried several times, but couldn't get rid of all the pits...therefore, chrome was out. If you are considering powdercoating, then pitting probably wouldn't be as much as a problem. I recommend the aftermarket covers...they give a much cleaner look (IMO)...

Seems like this post was not meant to show off some jealousy....... but it did

I say keep the holes and have the most intricate PCV system in history!

Have someone Tig them up who has a good hand, then smooth them out to a brushed or polished finish. Fill the long lines with some metallic green, THAT would be flippin sweet.

I use a wirewheel in my die trinder on alot of aluminum stuff (valve cover, throttle body, MAF ends) It's very easy to do and provides pretty nice looks. Its a small wire wheel, only meant to be used in drill motors and not over 2500 rpms, i figured its good to about 15k, thats when the wires start flying out lol. Check out how bling my throttle body is in the top pic on this thread, i did that with a wire wheel.
