Default True Duals and the fuzz...

I was just wondering if anyone here has had a run-in with the popos reguarding their true dual setup. I'm in the Kansas City Metro area so hopefully some of you guys around here can chime in. The reason I ask is because my roommate gave me his 3 inch Dr. Gas X-pipe that he had on his old stang and I really wanna use it on my Camaro with some Single chamber flows or some Spiral flows. TIA Guys and happy

well i live in Wichita, and I have a setup with the 3inch Dr. Gas, and flo-pro twisters (similar to spiral flows) and i love it. I haven't had any fuzz interference yet, knock on wood, but believe me it sounds great behind a set of QTP's!! I say go for it! just make sure you get a good setup made!

Keep your foot out of it, and the fuzz will have no problems.

Just FYI, I usually keep my foot out of it, and cops never look at me. I turned on to multi-lane road one time and didn't see the cop sitting at the light, and got on it, and his head snapped around FAST. He couldn't do anything though due to traffic...lucky me.

Yeah, I'll definitely have to keep my foot out of it, I'm getting a great deal on the fab work if I do decide to go the true dual route (My little bro is taking the welding class at the local votech). I'm really considering switching to true duals from my mufflex y/hooker catback setup. My little bro put a cutout that he made on his Ram and it sounds pretty mean wide open like that. Thanks guys!

Oh, I forgot to add the reason why I'm asking. My brother has a flowmaster catback on his 5.9L Ram and he got pulled over by a local cop and he checked the decibel level of it. How does that actually work? I didn't know there was a legal limit to how loud your exhaust can be.

Oh, there most definitely is. It is just rarely enforced. I think I remember seeing somewhere that anything other than what your car came from the facotry with is considered illegal as far as noise level goes.

That sucks, I just hope that same cop that pulled my bro over doesn't decide to come after me if I go this route! That would be

Yeah...no ****. Most cops are pretty cool about it though...just depends on where you are from I guess.

There isnt in NC (according to every NCHP and local Ive talked with anyway)

And from my understanding there's only a handful of states that enforce this. And how (I understand) they enforce it is they have a unit come out with a decibel meter and what they do is stand at a pre-determined distance (say 10 feet) and if its louder than pre-determined (say 140dB) you get fined, ticketed or whatever the penalty is.

Do it, and get the single chamber flows. My car sounds mean as hell with them.

I'll add my .02...after the install of my headers/dumped duals I rode behind in my girlfriend's car while she drove mine. It was not loud at all. It was MUCH louder inside the car than out. Probably has something to do with the turndowns facing downward though. I would imagine the noise level would travel further if they were aimed outward (wasn't possible to do).
