Default which header is better for the money

I have a 01 ss camaro and have had a cam, springs, and pushrods installed just recently. My problem now is which header to buy. I want a set of lt pacesetters but the shop I'm going to is suggesting either flowtech or hookers. Also they said no cats either So i guess my main concern is if the car is going to run ok with minamal backpreasure and on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the loudest how loud is it because I have a SLP loudmouth exhaust right now plus this is my daily driver also. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

2001 ss camaro
Slp loudmouth
BBK 80mm throtle body
z06 MAF
MSD Coilpacks 11mm wires denso iridium plugs
f1 cam kit springs ,pushrods
Full hotchkis suspension

Pacesetter headers are good for the money, go coated obviously as black painted rust instantaneously. I wouldn't go Hooker over Pacesetter, PC are cheaper and people's personal accounts have been installing the drivers side hooker is a nightmare.. but if the shop is installing its not really an issue for you then.

Save your money, go Pacesetter... same power gains.

Of the two, Hooker or Flowtech, Hooker hands down. But the fact that they would recommend Flowtech over Pacesetter (especially, with Pacesseter having resolved its K-member conflict long ago), I would turn my back on that shop and walk away. Many sponsors on this board have stopped carrying Flowtechs.

Agreed...I heard Flowtechs aren't that great. I have Pacesetters and I love 'em, no issues.

Pacesetters, the car should run fine without cats but from what I understand the SLP loudmouth sucks with LT's and ORY. Too much drone in the car. Just finish it off with a hooker catback or something.

Just curious, what makes you like the hooker over the pacesetter? I'm getting ready to buy LT and TD combo and pretty much after doing the research have my mind on the pacesetters. Also, heard of people having issues installing the hookers driver side, having to remove linkage etc. I figure from your post count you have a good idea why one over the other.

thanks.

I would go w/ the PC's as well. I've had mine a year with just a little surface rust near the collectors. As far as the sound it will be very loud w/ ORY and Loudmouth. I run the same thing only w/ Magnaflow and mine's pretty loud. Then again I'm cammed so that help too.

I know someone who had similar install troubles with Hookers (he opted to unbolt motor at mount and jack it up), and I've read of lots of successful Pacesetter installs.
Dollar for dollar, the pacesetters are a better by IMO because of installation ease, and they perform just fine, and are cheaper. Both are not stainless (although Hooker is available in stainless I think, but then they get priced into QTP territory).

Hookers are easy to intall, I don't know what all the fuss is about. the steering linkage is only 2 bolts, takes about 3 minutes to remove-no big deal. as long as u got the car up high enough, headers are easy, I have done 3 sets now, each time it gets easier, get what u want man

I agree w/ you on the steering linkage. It's not hard at all. Just something to factor in upon making a decision.

DO NOT GO WITH FLOWTECH!!!! I have a set on my Z28 and HATE them! They don't bolt up right anywhere and I honestly don't think they've helped too much performance wise. Everyone I know swears by Pacesetter and that's what I'm currently ordering.

Considering that this is your daily driver and that you have the Loudmouth exhuast, I STRONGLY suggest that you get cats.

If you do not get cats, then I'd rate this a 9 on your scale of loudness with the only way of achieving a 10 is through open headers.
