Default Cant get pulley on!!!!!

OK, so its been 2 days ive been workin on this pulley install. (Im glad i learned what 15 minute install meant early in life). Cant find a bolt long enough to get my March Puylley on. Cant find threaded rod the right size. Autozone said the didnt have a tool.

Ive heard that the stock bolt should be able to get a couple threads in, but my bolt is like 2 inches from threading. Should the pulley slide in more, because mine goes in like 1 centemeter or 2? SHould I hammer it in more? Should I sell my soul for some mechanical engenuity?

My machinic just put my on. He put a little grease on the snout of pulley. Used rubber hammer and tapped it in just a little and then threaded the bolt in and used impact to pull it down.

Thanks I wont be using an impact tool as I dont have one.

As of right now me and my dad have bought 2 bolts from Home Depot. There not long enough but are the right width. My father is in the shed as we speak welding the 2 bolts together. He first welded them and they were too short. Then again and they wer too long so we used a socket to make the head of the bolt longer(if u get what im saying). The pulley went in a centimeter or 2 then broke at a weld. It unthreaded thouygh, no problem. Im kinda worried about this, but unless I can find an easier way....

He didn't crank on it with impact. Just pulled it down slow and easy.

oyea its all good and almost done

anyway its on and i actually feel a difference. Good stuff. I didnt so much feal a SOTP difference as I looked down at the speedometer periodically and was like "O, I guess I should slow down."

Again thanks guys, Im gonna go get high.

put your pulley in the oven at 210* for 20-30 minutes grab your oven mits and slide it right on.....

u shouldnt have to nudge or beat on it at all... it will just slide on....

210 is how hot a motor gets so it wont hurt the pulley....

Glad you got your problem solved.

Off topic: Is it ok to remove the stock pulley with an impact gun?

I also use the oven trick when I do mine, I can't slide it on 100% but it has been enough to let me use the stock bolt.
