Default SLP Exhaust Questions!

OK ive decided as to what exhaust i wanna get but ive come up with some questions.

Im getting the slp loudmouth, but i also wanna get the larger Y-Pipe. Does anyone know if this bolts to the stock mainfolds? Also will this eliminate the need for cats. So it would go, manifolds, y-pipe, then the slp loudmouth.

Next question is this. What if i purchase the package with the headers and the y-pipe. Then do i need cats as it says slp's website? and where do these bolt on?

don't waste your money on the why ypipe..youll have to change it if you go with headers. also, slp header are really expensive...there is better stuff out there for a lot cheaper. When I get money for headers i'm gonna get pacesetter uncoated for 300 and go with tsp true duals for 400...adn call it a day.

Buy the Pace Setter or TSP y-pipe. It will bolt right up and eliminate the cats. Check out ls1sounds.com to hear similar setups. Many don't care for the rasp.

OK im gettin the pacesetter long tubes, and the slp loudmouth. But which y-pipe should I get? dont you need cats to pass emissions??

I need to know which y-pipe to get cause im gunna have to get cats to pass emissions. Any good high flowing cats?? or do i hollow out the stocks. Also will the slp exhaust mount right up to any y-pipe that i purchase.

The loudmouth WILL mount up to any y-pipe.

Have you ever heard the loudmouth with headers. Many people on here say it sounds bad; mostly because of rasp and interior drone. I didn't listen to them and tried it anyways. I didn't like it either. I changed mufflers after about two weeks. Some people like it though.

I don't know who all sells catted y-pipes. I knew from the start that I didn't want them. Some of the high-flow cats don't pass emissions in some states anyways.

LT's/ !cats and a Loudmouth will sound like ***,tons of rasp,I promise after 2 days you will hate it. There are multiple setups out there that you can live with that sound deep with no rasp what so ever. I have Pacesetter LT's coated,2 plus years and look new out of the box, pacesetter Y pipe with a cutout and a Hooker catback, the whole exhaust cost me 800.00 bucks. If I didn't have a CME I would definetly consider a true dual setup/with X pipe. I know search is sorta screwed right now but learn from others so you dont have to redue your exhaust a couple of times over. Good luck.

Changing Y-Pipes won't affect your need for Cats. I have the SLP High Flow cats right after my long tubes and before the Y-Pipe. I also have the original Loudmouth exhaust. Sounds awesome, breaths like cut-outs.

Ok...im trying to understand what i should do.

What setup should i get for an agressive muscle car tone.

Im not purchasing the headers until later. but for now im planning on the slp y-pipe then which catback should i get.. everyone talks about this rasp!! if you have headers, then y-pipe, then a loudmouth!

A lot of people talk about rasp, but it's kinda funny; some folks say there's a lot of rasp up high and sounds sweet down low, and other say the opposite. If you want agressive sound, the Loudmouth can't be beat (IMO). Rasp comes from lots of sources beginning with the LS1 engine itself, and is affected by how straight the air flow is, the diameter of the pipes, restrictions like Cats, etc. If you choose a set up that will give you the maximum ammount of power and wicked sound, then be happy even if somebody else thinks it's raspy. I haven't read a single post from a Loudmouth owner who was looking for the most agressive sound complain. I do read posts from folks who appear not to want the most agressive sound and being overwhelmed by the LoudMouth, rasp included... I have a rag top, so I can understand how some people might be annoyed by the louder exhaust drone after a while on the highway, but I think yo'll get that with any really aggressive exhaust.

I would probably choose the exhaust first, then get the Y-Pipe that goes with it, for stock exhaust or headers. When I got my SLP long tubes, they came with the a new Y. I would not recommend the SLP headers, even though I got great power and sound out of them, because they hang so low, and are the hardest to install. I do heartily recommend the LoudMouth exhaust, though. You can always get the Loudmouth II, which lets you swap in a muffler if you want.

If you keep the cats in place the LM will sound fine,BUT if there are no cats,LT's/ORY and no matter WHAT catback you go with it will sound like *** IMO.
