Default Exhaust leak...help!

I had my car taken in today for rear end fluid check and header bolts tighten up and the mechanic told me that I had a slight leak around the Y pipe clamps. Would it hurt to have it that totally welded up? I was thinkin of getting a exhaust shop to just weld it up completely and prevent any leaks. What u guys think?

Are you talking about welding the Y pipe to the headers?? If so I woun't go that way, If you ever have to remove the headers it would almost be impossible with out cutting it apart. Try getting some stainless band clamps, they work verry well. I've taken mine apart multiple times and I dont have any leaks.

Band clamps are the way to go. If you are gonna weld up anything...put some flanges on your y-pipe and headers, then get some of those dead-soft aluminum gaskets and you should be set for a leak free ride!

like conan said, don't weld the entire thing up. It will be hell if you need to get the headers or catback off!

Which size would i need 3" collector to 3" system ? And this eliminates clamps correct?

My Kooks lt's and ory are both 3" . Your pacesetters should be the same . Might want to call tsp to make sure on your Y. Yes the flanges will eliminate the clamps.

I would just get some band clamps from an autoparts store. You can take a bunch of layers of aluminum foil, fold it a few times, and wrap it around the overlap, then put the band clamp on top of that. It will squeeze into the crack and seal her up.

I'm thinking about doing this to my header-exhaust joints this weekend.

I'm about | | that close to calling the noise that i have a result of the .600" camshaft though.
