Default Changing plugs-- need to change wires too?

My used 1998 Z28 has 30,888 miles and I don't know if the previous owner ever changed the sparkplugs or the plug wires. I'm going to TRY and install NGK's and am wondering if I need to change the wires. GM ones cost $146.28...thanks for your help!

LS1Jay

Thanks for the reply...that will be a relief because the wires sure cost a lot more than the sparkplugs! Anyone else?

personally, I would change them, you're already in there, and to pull them off, you really need to pull on them, and I would be worried they would be damaged in the removal. I put Taylors on mine, $56 shipped for the NGKs and wires
I've also seen the GM wires for like $9 each as various big dealer websites. Check with some of these guys ===>

I'd just leave them. I'm still running the factory wires with no problems.

Because of the short lenth of the wires, aftermarket wires don't really improve anything. If they aren't damage I would just leave them alone.

Yep, our stock wires work just fine. Unless damaged leave them be. Money is better spent on other mods.
