Default OK to use a ported truck TB?

I was wondering if anybody was running a truck TB on there f-body? I was talking to Shaner and he said they are done in the same casting as the F-body TB. Are there going to be any issues with running this truck TB? He said that the coolant line hookup was different and the PCV line were a bit different.

Thanks.

Everything you said above is correct. I am using a truck TB with no issues. Make sure you check the throttle stop for 100% opening using Autotap. Had to grind mine quite a bit to get to 100% open.

Thanks Reckless. How do I set the Throttle to 100% open using autotap? I have my stock TB drilled out 1/4"

Thanks.

It's pretty easy if you have the Windows version of Autotap. Just connect and use the "guages" option, and then select "throttle position angle" from the list. You don't even have to have the car running. Set the laptop somewhere so you can see it and rotate the thottle by hand to wide open (against the stop).

If it shows you 100%, then you are done! If not, use a Dremel (or similar) to grind the stop down a bit at a time, checking as you go, until you reach 100%.

There is still a selection for checking the throttle position angle in the DOS version. Just look for it and you'll find it. Should still be able to monitor it without the car running and the key in the on position.

It will say "throttle position angle" or something similar. I'm not sure if it displays in a percentage in the DOS version. It may use voltage instead. If so, bring it as close to 4.6 as possible, but do not exceed 4.6.

The truck TB and the 98-99 F-body TB are the same design. The cam and spring for the throttle linkage is different on 2000 and up f-bodies. The trucks also have different coolant and PCV tubes attached to them.
