Did it for a while. Make sure you plug the hose ends for the accumulator and compressor if you remove them. This will keep moisture out of the accumulator (dryer) and bad joojoo out of the compressor.

How much power and how much weight reduction does this give you?

Yanked mine...fairly simple. Had to be if I did it. As far as power I doubt there is any to be gained though my ac and everything associated with it took off around 40lbs from my front end.

Mine's out, pump and coil. Seems that not having the coil in front of the radiator would make the car run cooler, but I'm not sure cause I haven't yet installed the temp gauge. BTW - if anyone's interested, the A/C stuff is for sale.

I`m ripping that A/C crap out. I would not have ordered it if GM would have given me the option. The only thing it is doing is adding weight to the front end and taking up a bunch of room! I`m trying to find out if the blower motor housing from a `94 F-body with the rare A/C delete option would fit in an LS1 engine bay. (I want to keep the heat functional.) I`m also wondering if the in-dash heat controls from an A/C delete car would work but I think the interior lay-out is different between the `93-`97 and the `98-`02 cars. Isn`t it?

Yea, I was pretty sure they changed the lay-out, but I wonder if they actually changed the control unit itself? As far as the heat/defroster not working, no big deal. I only use the heater to help suck some of the heat off the engine while I`m waiting in the staging lanes! I figured if I had a blower motor housing from a non A/C car it would be much smaller. In theory anyway.

I came back form the track Friday night and had the heater on and I didn't notice any difference as opposed to when I had ac.
