How Loud is Loud? I have been wondering about this for a while now: I've been considering purchasing TSP's true-dual system with the Sweet Thunder mufflers, but how loud are they? All I have heard people say is "they are loud", but that is an opinion. I personally really like loud things, but I want to be able to listen to my radio/iPod as well. My last car was an '02 Mustang GT with an off-road H-pipe and Flowmaster 40 Series mufflers dumped before the axle. It was pretty noisy in there and things rattled and all of that great stuff, but it didn't really bother me too much (probably because it sounded so damn awesome). I guess a more specific question about this is for the decibels. I have never really understood the whole decibel thing, so how many decibels is "loud" and where is this exhaust system ranked in there? It's obvious that this will grab a cop's attention, but do you think they would pull me over with this solely for sound?

Well I dunno about duals but I have LTs, ORY, and loudmouth and it freakin loud and I love it. Probably not the most convinent for my neighbors when I wake up for work in the morning but it sounds like a pure race car at WOT. I can still listen to the radio, just gotta turn it up a bit louder and the drone isn't too bad for me. When I cruise around and flash the converter people across the street jump and little kids get scared its great. Heres a small clip of it in car WOT just for an idea.

With the stock cam in there, it'll be loud, but it's not going to be loud enough to get you pulled over at lower rpms (unless the cop is a dick I guess). Get it above 3k and it'll shake some stuff!! Do it!!! Do it!!!!

factor. I don't have emmissions testing in my area, but I'm sure it will happen sooner or later 
Meh, I'll worry about it later. 
I'm going to go with a cam later on, will it make it that much louder?

Very much so, obviously depending on which cam you choose. My car literally shakes stuff off the walls of my garage at idle and sets off car alarms in every parking lot I drive through. My wife says she can hear me coming a good 2-3 minutes before I pull in the driveway. It's actually not bad from inside the car at cruise, I don't have to crank the stereo to hear it and normal conversation doesn't require raising your voice. Anything other than cruising though.......forget about it.

Loud is when youve been pulled over for speeding when you are actually traveling under the speed limit. When they think you are drining faster than you really are because is so beautifully LOUD. I have the LM, ory, lt's and no cats and I love the way it sounds. MS3 will be added to the mix soon.

My friend has a 2002 Camaro Z28 with the TSP True Dual system with Sweet Thunder mufflers dumped at the axel and Pacesetter LTs. Sounds really good! We had to basically yell at each other while next to the car, to talk, but inside the car it isnt really that bad. Its a really rumbly, muscle-car sound. I also have a friend with a 1999 Trans Am with Kooks LTs, ORY and SLP Loudmouth and I think the LM is considerably louder, but not as deep as the TSP. But, they both sounds AWESOME! I really like the race car sound and the loudness of the LM, I really didnt notice the rasp everyone talks about. It a tough choice for me because I too am currently trying to decided what to get. I'm definitely getting Pacesetter LTs and I dont know whether to get LM and ORY or True Duals (I would go with the Dynomax bullets instead of the sweet thunder). Theres one thing you should know though, the TSP True Duals sound so bassy that the sound isn't as mean sounding as the LM, its just really really deep, this is why the LM sounds more aggressive, the tone is more noticable rather than the TSP's deep deep gurgle. In fact, I was driving behind my friend with the TSP true duals and it sounded "not that great" while driving, just a BASSY tone... not as good as other cars LS1s I've driven behind like my friend's with his LM. I would imagine if you got the TSP system with the Dynomax bullets instead of the Sweet Thunders, it would help this though. Good luck and let me know how it goes, I'll let you know what I end up getting once I make up my mind.

Do the Dynomax's sound more "race-car-like"? Is that why you choose them over Sweet Thunder? I am definitely going with a true-dual system, and it will be TSP's since I have heard nothing but good about them. I am just trying to decide if I want to go for that "race-car" sound or the "muscle-car" sound. My Mustang definitely had that "muscle-car" tone and I can definitely relate to the "bassiness" of it. It was so deep that change in my cup holder would get airborne at times from the sound alone 
I guess I just want the muscle car sound at idle, but sound like the C5-R blasting through the "S" turn at Petit LeMans when I get on it. So I want a mix of both race-car and muscle car

I really like the race car sound and the loudness of the LM, I really didnt notice the rasp everyone talks about
I think it will be a loud setup but if your smart about where to get on it, you wont have a problem. I just wasnt real smart about it. I am getting smarter by th day trust me on that.

BTW, how do you think that dumped system would look on a Formula, because the rear bumper is different than the Trans Am and I think it might look weird without exhaust tips out the back? Would it look like a 6er?

Well my car with a stock cam and LTs, is unbelivably loud. I listen to music just fine and talk on the phone. I set of at least 1 car alarm leaving my neighborhood and ive gotten pulled over 1 time for them in 5 months. Duals will be nowere near as loud as open headers, i say go for it.
