Default FLP Header banging > Is an engine torque strap the fix?

I still continue to hear of people that have banging with FLP headers, even though FLP [said] they re-designed these more than a year ago in order to fix this problem.

Anyone feel that an engine torque strap would keep the headers from banging the floor board?

Thanks,
Ron

I know it's ghetto but a little piece of heater hose screwed in the floorpan works. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> A torque strap would be a little overkill just to fix that IMO.

My FLPs are going in Monday, I'll let you know if mine bangs or not but here is the fix with the heater hose, it's alot easier than I thought when someone described this once:

Hope this helps
Chris

I continue to be amazed that a $1300 set of headers needs a piece of rubber heater hose to stop from banging. And FLP posted right here on LS1.Com more than a year ago that they fixed the banging problem. Wish I saved the post.

Turbo Buick folks have been useing an engine torque strap for years. In fact, you would be hard pressed to find a lightly modified GN without one. Just thought it may put a stop to these FLP banging problems and keep the motor from moving so much on the sloppy GM engine mounts.

I have had both the old and new FLP y-pipe. To allow more clearence on the drivers side from the floorpan, the v-flange is angled down on the rear off the ORpipe/cat. You sacrifice more ground clearence and it still bangs. I prefer the original design ( good for lowered cars like me ). The v-flange is what hits the floorpan.

Old vs New FLP y-pipe

The new style one is black (uncoated one).
