The ATI is the best. Many people who are going extremely quick are using the ASP, though. However, for me, it was worth the extra money for the peace of mind the ATI will bring. If you develop any type of shudder in the bottom end, the ASP will not be able to dampen it. The ATI will be. That was all that was needed for me to sell my ASP and purchase the ATI.

BTW, the ASP is 25% underdrive, the ATI is 10%. However, I believe the ATI may be lighter, so the same performance gain is realized.

ati is a damper and pulley, asp is just aluminum, no damping help which is why its really not good for the engine because it doesnt soak up any vibration.

The ATI Super Damper is SFI certified. You gotta have one if yer fast enough anyways...

I'm not, but I'm damned tired of paying for rebuilds 'cause of broken timing chains.

The latest ASP pulley that is out is also a dampener. It is the old model that wasn't.

I emailed asp and asked some questions..they said the ls1 doesn't use a balancer it uses a damper..and they said there pulley is a damper and it is only one pound lighter than stock..and don't think it is aluminum..might be aluminum center.I have no problems with mine..noticed no difference in vibrations and no knock retard on last quartermile run.I think the ati makes sense on race cars..cars that run at high rpm continuously like circle tracks..for a street car that is only at 6500 for a second or so can't see the point..lots of people run the asp with no problems..so the newest one maybe be a bit of an improved design..thats fine since I just got mine a few weeks ago.Only thing I know is my car ran its best time so far with the pulley.I also run the katech jwis timing chain..same chain as c5r race cars..doubt very much it will break.

The ASP pulley has done us right and the fastest of the fastest use it. (street guys that is)

I picked up two tenths with mine and no other changes....all in the same weekend... same weather.

ASP is the ONLY pulley I recommend.

How do you tell the difference in the old ASP design and the new one?

Anyone know the actual performance difference between the ASP and the ATI?

Have to admit I'm leaning toward the ATI cause it sounds like it's better long term for the engine.

ASP is a harmonic balancer. It has an inner hub made of aluminum for a reduction in weight and an outer heavy ring of steel to eliminate harmonics. 10% reduction from the ATI is not enough to get any appreciable hp gains. Go with the ASP! Tried and proven...
