I had the same problem, make sure when you put the y-pipe together, the ends are on the right side, one is longer than the other. That was our problem. We did have to unbolt my loudmouth and push it back so the y-pipe would fit on the headers, then we pulled the LM back up over the Y-pipe, and bolted the exhaust back together. The TS y-pipe is a pain...

Also, there was rough spots on the inside of the ypipe, we sanded them off and greased them up to fit over the headers.

The Y-pipe came with the Pace Setter Headers from LS1 Speed. My wife and I ran into a few problems with trying to get the Y into the I. We tried to flare out the ends to the I with channel locks. We tried to insert the Y with a 16 pound sledge with a 2x4 between the pipes, so not to damage the Y. We also tried removing the exhaust system. We were able to remove the driver side from the hangers but were completely unsuccessful in getting the passenger side removed, because of factory I over the rear end. We thought of the grease method, but after the 16 pound sledge, we are pretty sure grease will not help. We are thinking of taking it to a muffler shop and having the Y-pipe re-sized to fit the I. We appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance!!!!

I had a similar problem getting it onto the I pipe, when the catback was put on the stock stuff the U bolts kind of crushed the pipe into an oval, we used a clamp to bend it back perfectly round.

The Y pipe still took alot of loving and banging to get it connected, but it was MUCH easier after making the I pipe round again.

And as someone else said it definetely helps to unbolt the catback to allow things to move around more while you're working on it

Hope this helps

I had my car up on a lift to do my headers/y and when I went to put the y on it was really difficult because the catback was in the way. I had the catback loosened up but what I ended up doing was connecting the y at the collectors and then pulling the I pipe end of it down as far as I could until it met the catback. This is hard to explain without pics but it wouldn't merge w/ the catback in it's normal position. If I had taken the catback off it would have been no problem.

yep just did mine last week and the pacesetter Y would fit into the I pipe it was the same exact size i got it open by prying it open then brought it to a muffler shop to reshape it and seal it., but if u have a pacesetter check where they merge they dont cut a big enough hole in them before they weld the 2 pipes together a major restriction so check it u may need to have someone cut it open with a torch like i did

Same issue here but, we were installing a new Hooker Catback on this car also. So we just took the I pipe to the muffler shop and had it expanded. Fit like butter after that.
