The MAF sensor has an inline fuse that might have blown. Have them check the MAF readings.

On SSJet's car he had 6 MAF's put in the car and it did not help at all. It was reading like it had no MAF because the inline fuse had blown.

Terry - Once the car is warm and running it is fine for the most part, and it pulls hard all the way to redline, so I don't think it's a valve spring (and why would the stock valve springs break on a car with ~8500 miles on it?)

Toxic Texan - I will see if they checked that...Thanks

Joe

Ok the fuse is in the fuse box under the hood. It says MAF sensor on it. I can't read the cover on my fuse boxes, but it should be there.

PSJ - I don't have the exact number, but I asked them the same thing and they said it was normal...no IAC problem (although they did replace it) and no vacuum leaks...

Josh - Wouldn't a bad fuse trigger an SES? The car hasn't thrown any SES lights at all...

Joe

Do you have any way to log the car (autotap, etc?)

And the fuse you want to check is labeled "Eng Sense"

The car was autotapped right after the problem started happening...and it showed nothing unusual...Wouldn't there be an SES light if the fuse was blown?

my car did what you are explaining. but my car was stock. started it and the rpms were really low. like 500-700 but then i drove home (3miles) and turned it off and restarted it. never did it again. my sisters 00 tahoe is doing the same thing. it just wants to stall.
one more thing (pretty interesting)
i used to drive a 99 1500 p/u
i was trying to listen to a new c/d. (truck was off) i put the c/d in and it got stuck half way in and i tried to eject it.(didnt work) so i turned the trk on and sounded like ****. so i looked at the rpms also really low. would have stalled if i didnt tap the gas. but once the c/d came out it was idling perfect.

i know this wont help you but just to show you youre not the only one with that problem. also maybe its just a coinsidence that it happend the day after you modded your car. goodluck

Sometimes after a converter install cars idle lower and idle badly.

Solution can be to raise the idle with tuning, or by drilling out the idle air hole in the TB blade, or by raising up the screw under the TB throttle stop.

If the car only does this in cold start it might be because the A/F ratio for cold start is very rich and you need more air.

Next time on cold start use the tech II and raise the idle up 200 rpms and see if it helps *shrug*.

can you post an autotap log from a period when the car is experiencing this problem

MAF
MAP
timing
rpm
injector p/w (left and right bank)
o2's (left and right)
tps
iac

and anything else you think is pertinent

Thanks,
Chris

No ses light. If it is the fuse autotap will show the voltage like your MAF is not there. So if you put a new MAF on the car will still run the same because it is not getting any power. If you have A-tap see what the MAF looks like and then unplug it and see if it changes.

The fuse is "Eng Sense" fuse under the hood

One thing that improved my idle quality, although I have an M6, was to increase low rpm timing advance using LS1Edit. If I recall correctly, stock was around 18 and I raised it to 23-24.

Thanks for all the help guys...

I will try to Autotap it tomorrow, if I can make it up to see my buddy who has it...

Toxic Texan - I will try that first thing in the morning...
