Re: Fan Switch=SES light If you turn on your fan and crank your car you will trip a SES light. You have turn off the fan crank the car then turn it back on (if you want). That SES light doesn't hurt anything and will go away, I triped a SES on mine at the track like this, it went away when I filled the tank up. AND if you wired the high speed fans to kick on too that will set a SES no matter when you turn them on.
Fan Switch=SES light I installed a manual fan switch in my car yesterday and its a cool little, almost free, mod. Only problem is that my SES light came on that same night. I'm assuming its related and that the computer is throwing a code because the fan is coming on when it doesn't think it should. So aside from putting a peice of tape over the dashlight, or not using the fan switch, how do i solve this problem?

Usually you will get a PO480 or P0481 depending on whether they are on low/high speed.
The SES will reset itself after a few ignition cycles, but the code will be stored in the pcm.
Running the fans on high speed does not throw a code, that I have seen, I run mine on high speed manually quite often.

Re: Fan Switch=SES light I do have it wired so that the high speed fan comes on. I figured that would be the best way to do it. I suppose i could easily change it so only the low speed one comes on. The light itself came on after i had been driving for a few minutes. I don't recall turning the car on while having the fan running, but i wasn't exactly paying close attention to it, so who knows.

Re: Fan Switch=SES light I don't have a fan switch. But I do the trick in the fuse box. I use a wire as a jumper to turn the fans on. The fans run on high and I have never had a SES trigger because of fans.
A couple weeks ago I got to the track and left the fans the whole time. The fans were on over 4 hours. I left the fans on when I started the car. Did my run. Then shut the car off with the fans on. No SES.
The crappy part came on my 5th run. I was in the staging lanes with the car off. Got the signal to stage and ruu..ruu..eeeeeerrrrrrrrrtttt. Battery death!!! Luckily there were some really cool people at the track to give me a push start. The car started right before the water box. Talk about embarrassment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1)If you use the fans 2 times in a row IE driving the car (same ignition cycle) turn them on then off then on again a SES light comes on.
2) If you use the fans 2 back to back ignition cycles you will set a code IE drive turn the fans on. Turn the car/fans off.. Start the car drive and turn the fans on, SES light..
But, if you use the fans, turn the car/fans off. Next time out don't use the fans then the third time out use the fans, everything is ok, no SES..
If the PCM sees the fans come on 2 times consecutively a SES light will come on, wether it be on the same ignition cycle or the very next cycle. The SES light will go away aprox 3 ignition cycles later if the fans are not used. I have never noticed a loss of power from the SES light the fans throw.
This is only my experience and have done it just to test it. I must have thrown the fan code a good 15 times.

As i think about it i think that your experience may be the same as mine. It seems as though that if i use the fan in two consecutive ignition cycles, the light comes on. I'll have to pay more attention to this. Thanks
