Cold Air Induction
Don't get me wrong, i'm a big fan and love the hoods, but as far as self fabricated systems go, I saw someone route air ducts from the front of their 'camaro to the bottom of the ram air box. I will try to link it.

For a positive pressure effect (beyond standard atmospheric pressure), you do need extremely high speeds. However, you are missing a vary important point. A normally aspirated engine is not 100% volumetric efficient. A fuel injected engine may be 85-90 % efficient. A ram air kit does not need to apply much additional pressure to get the engine closer to 100 % efficiency. That is why you will see cars with the FTRA pick up fuel economy when combined with the colder air.
Check out www.installuniversity.com . They did a good scientific write up. Keep in mind their testing was only in the 8th mile and results will improve as you fo faster.
