Very serious NEED HELP HELP. my car is running like ****. ok heres the story. i was low on gas so i pulled into a lowes marketplace gas station. after i filled up i went for a drive and all of a sudden the car starts to rev up real high than drop real low. when i am at a light the rpm's move very nasty. when i was looking around the engine looking around i saw the TB was full of carbon biuldup or oil. so i removed the throttle body and cleaned it out, replaced the TPS, and cleaned the AIC. Now when i hooked everything back up it is idling very rough and now on an average take off the car sounds like it is choking at part throttle. when i WOT the pig it acts right. What could be the problem.

Re: Very serious NEED HELP I know it sounds random but I had the same problem in another car (it was TBI though) and I got the fuel pump replaced (dealer technician's advice), and everything was fine. It's worth a shot to check I think.

Re: Very serious NEED HELP i removed all the original gas that was in there and i replaced it with supreme and a bottle of STP entire fuel system cleaner and it is still doing it. <img border="0" alt="[whiner]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cry.gif" />
Re: Very serious NEED HELP A friends mustang does that. If it's what I think your talking abou8t it's the same. His car surges from idle to like 2 grand and stays there. His car doesn't run roughly though. Someone told him it was his valves. Someone else said his injectors, and someone else said it was high 190lph fuel pump.

Re: Very serious NEED HELP Need to get a scanner hooked up and see what's going on. Is it acting up all through the rpm range? Cutting out more in the high revs? Throwing any codes? How's the plugs look? You mentioned excessive oil behind the TB plate. Pull off your PCV line going into the TB and check for oil bypass. Quite common on our cars and is not very O2 friendly over time. If you can't get a hold of ATAP, it's going to be a little bit of a guessing game. If you can, look at your IAC count, maf rate, O2 readings, etc.
Re: Very serious NEED HELP if you have it , i'd check the egr tube's oring ( going into the manifold).just make sure when you tighten the bolt holding the tube to the manifold not to over tighten it , just snug it in , it stripps the thread pretty easy.

IAC= low was 118 and the highest point was 139
RPM= 830
ECT= -38 and did not change
IAT= 104
Spark advance= 22deg
egr position= 0%
ECT= went on a seperate datastream and got 115
