Default oil dipstick tube

I just about have the whole exhaust off but cant get the oil dipstick tube out of the block. I unbolted the 15mm bolt holding it and tried pulling it from the top and bottom but the thing will not move at all. Is there another bolt somewhere that I am not seeing? How did you guys remove it?
Thanks.

HA!

FINALLY someone else who had my problem! Mine was stuck like hell when i tried to remove it. I twisted, pulled, yanked, tugged, cursed, and it wouldn't come out. Finally it popped out minus about 1.5" of it, which was still stuck in the block. Took 3 days to get that piece out, finally tried using an ease-out, now i take one to bed with me every night.

Try twisting it in the hole a little bit while trying to pull it out. They come painted and i think that paint was tweaked up and keeping mine in the hole. I always dab a little grease around the close fitting part when i re-install mine.

They can be a pain in the ***. Mine did not come out easy, I ended up wrecking it.

Just be patient and take your time. Twisting it will help.

Good Luck!!

Mine did the same, broke about an inch and a half in the block, looked like someone had used locktite, or the O ring seized. Good luck

I took all of the advice and I still cant get that bitch out. It is stuck in there and will not move an inch. The only thing I can think of is removing the starter to gain more access. How hard would it be to remove the starter and reinstall it?

just did mine yesterday and it was a BITCH... heres what i did

after having a guy that benches 300+ lbs pull on it and still not come out i decided that another approch was needed

i went under the car, unbolted the starter, pulled it out (couple min job)

then i took a set of vice grips and clamped em to the bottom, then using a screwdriver pried it out while another guy was pulling from the top

mine was reaaaally in there

You should be able to get a screwdriver in between the block and the lip that stops it from slipping in too far once the starter is off.

Mine was stuck pretty good..... I used a very small set of vice grips and long screwdriver.

DO pull the dipstick out first though

I didn't have to take my starter off... the small vice grips clamped onto the dipstick tube very tightly... then just used the screwdriver to prise it out against the vice grips and block...

It popped out and I about broke my hand

... getting it back in was harder for me.

I'm going to remove the starter tomorrow and was wondering how many bolts are holding it and what size are they? Also, do you just bolt it back up when reinstalling it or is there some special way to do it?

If you havn't already done so, remember to disconnect the battery. Going near the tarter with a spanner you may end up welding the spanner to the starter, if your car is in gear the car may move if the starter turns and its all over.

I expect you already disconnected th batery, just wanted to make sure.
