FINALLY someone else who had my problem! Mine was stuck like hell when i tried to remove it. I twisted, pulled, yanked, tugged, cursed, and it wouldn't come out. Finally it popped out minus about 1.5" of it, which was still stuck in the block. Took 3 days to get that piece out, finally tried using an ease-out, now i take one to bed with me every night.

Try twisting it in the hole a little bit while trying to pull it out. They come painted and i think that paint was tweaked up and keeping mine in the hole. I always dab a little grease around the close fitting part when i re-install mine.

after having a guy that benches 300+ lbs pull on it and still not come out i decided that another approch was needed
i went under the car, unbolted the starter, pulled it out (couple min job)
then i took a set of vice grips and clamped em to the bottom, then using a screwdriver pried it out while another guy was pulling from the top
mine was reaaaally in there
DO pull the dipstick out first though

I didn't have to take my starter off... the small vice grips clamped onto the dipstick tube very tightly... then just used the screwdriver to prise it out against the vice grips and block...
It popped out and I about broke my hand

... getting it back in was harder for me.

I expect you already disconnected th batery, just wanted to make sure.
