Default GMMG vs CORSA

Hello, I'm in Gainesville, Florida and would like to hear some exhaust on SS's in my area. I have the stock SS-GM exhaust with rear dual outlets and I did switch out the stock muffler to an 80-series Flowmaster muffler. I do have better tone now than before but would like an even more deeper, throatier tone and more Horsepower if possible. I don't want a raspy loud exhaust though and don't want the "head drone" or interior noise. The SLP-Loudmouth sounds too loud for me but the Corsa or GMMG sounds like a good choice. Sometimes I take long road trips and don't want to get a headache from the exhaust noise. Is the GMMG too loud? Does it produce any "head drone"? Is the GMMG only offered for sale from the factory in Geoargia? Or is the Corsa a better choice?

My e-mail is RLYC@bellsouth.net

Thank you

Ray

I've driven my car for over 14 hours straight and have never been bothered by any drone of any kind. On a stock setup the Corsa is going to be quiet at idle and nice under power. Sounds good at WOT, but you don't spend a lot of time there anyway.

With headers it sounds really good. With heads and a cam it's a pretty pissed off setup. I've got pics and poor audio clips off my homepage.

GMMG is another good system, but I don't have any first hand comments on it.

Opinions are like A**holes, everyone has one. IMO the Corsa is a great system with really nice tips. No drone, a good combination of loud at WOT and fairly quiet at idle. I heard the CMMG about 2-3 months ago and it sounded awesome. If I could have the CMMG with the Corsa tips I think that would be perfect!

GMMG is not too loud, i would go and hear someones car that has it, ask then for a ride and they wont say no. I have heard corsa with FLPs and cats and mine was a little bit quieter at idle and just a little bit at WOT. So GMMG is kinda loud with stock cats and manifold. Once u get some headers might be a different story. And PLEASE hear it in person first.

I really enjoy my Corsa. The car is stock for now other than a lid and pulley so what the posts above say are true. Slight burble at idle, great at highway speeds, and pretty sweet over 4000 rpm. Plus, the tips kick a$$.

I had a Flowmaster on my 94 Z and it would give me a headache if I was in the car for more than 45 minutes.

Can't speak for a GMMG, although I've been told they are nice too.

Good luck,

Drew,

Would you mind expanding on your GMMG experience? My SS is stock. Your saying the Corsa is louder then the GMMG at idle and WOT? Which sounds more "muscular" or throatier or deeper? Do you have any unwanted interior drone?

On a long road trip how is it?

Nobody in my area has a GMMG.

Thanks

Well i think that it sounds muscular, throatier and deeper than corsa.... interior drone, no just the cars exhaust. on a long road trip?? i dunno, take this for what its worth. All of my friends that are girls dont think its too loud, not even a little (and girls are picky!!) No one in my area had it till i got it, and thats all of houston! i got it with out hearing it in person. I gave my friend a ride again, and he has a 2000 trans am, he was thinking about borla and an off road pipe. not anymore hes probally goanna get gmmg. U wont regret it trust me. ohh this too i have gotten "thats the best exhaust i have ever heard" like 10 times now.... i want some headers bad

Drew, Am I understanding you correct? No interior drone what-so-ever with the GMMG? I know the Corsa is tops with the "no head drone". Is GMMG the same?

Thanks!

I have the GMMG grott 1-7/8 LT's and OR -y...it does drone a little as with any aftermarket exhasut over stock, but even as loud as mine is it it no where NEAR w/ my stock LS1 w/ the SLP LOUDmouth droned like!

IT's no where near even coming close to giving me a headache...however when you get on WOT it does get a tad loud!

I just installed Hooker LT's with their 3" ORY- pipe and I have Corsa cat-back. It sounds incredible at idle- not too loud but nice mild rumble. (it will be bad-*** when I put that TR224 cam in) The only problem I have is from 2200-about 3000 rpm I get a raspy burble, but at WOT this bitch screams sending the women and children back in the house.
I helped install FLP's on my friends WS6 and with his Borla system it is much louder and has more of a heavy rumble throughout. Much louder and deeper but does have some drone.
Don't know much about the GMMG but I would say if you plan on getting some LT headers- I would reconsider going with the Corsa or something similar. Headers and GMMG I think would be WAY too much.

I been around for a while and i can tell you this about it friend GMMG sound's better than my Borla. now diff is that im not saying you wont get any HP from GMMG but it does nothing for the car and i know somebody that has FLP's and GMMG on there car and it rock's. if i was you

go Borla i have it and i was going with the GMMG till i talked to a few Tech's for about 4 month's before i bouight any and here's what thay sed GMMG sound's good but does nothing for the car Corsa's ok.... Borla and FLP's you can't go wrong friend you will be glade you did
GMMG Borla and if you do try the bigest plate in there and work your way down. rember*the more you use a little plate the less air flow mean's more you will get off the linelow end. the more you leave your Borla open with the biggest plate the more you going to get top end and maby a hair off the line. i run the bigest plate in there

with GMMG it's 1 sound and 1 sound only that's the good thing about Borla you can alway's adjust it any time you feel like it you go to the track and you want better ET's hell stick the little plate in there you want louder in the city open that hole up hope this help's
im happy with it...............

Blue Fire,

Could you use a period or a comma once in a while? From reading your post it's difficult to understand what your trying to say.

Maybe you've had one too many cold ones......

Why would you say I would gain zero horsepower swiching out my stock-GM exhaust(w/Flowmaster 80-series muffler) to a GMMG system?

Yes friend i understand what your staying. anything diff you put on your car you will get better than stock anyday. what im saying is that do your math. ok flow master=baffle's=loss of power...... GMMG sound's good but relly does not make any good HP for the low end or top end...... Borla is better in my.......... it's all up to you what you like i only lissen and learn from the best friend.......

FLOWMASTER itself sucks. HOWEVER, they use a completely different setup. FM mufflers are basically walls that the exhaust runs into and bounces around. The GMMG "chambered" pipes have small baffles on the inside but no walls, hence the "straight through" design.

anyone dynoed his stock 2002 TA WS6 with a GMMG exhaust?

I know corsa should give a stock 01 TA WS6 14RWHP (according to corsa) But some estimate (12-15RWHP)...

I wanna hear opinions from the people who actually dynoed a GMMG ehaust and a Corsa exhaust ... want to hear accurate results... heard too many opinions already ... time for some real facts...

Thanks..

CamminBeast, can you prove those dyno numbers?

How bout givin' it up for the GMMG vs CORSA once and for all!

The GMMG could be my next exhaust!

-------------

So if Cammin Beast is correct then the GMMG is the BEST EXHAUST FOR THE CAMARO-PERIOD.

DO IT FOR SURE u will be happy
i remember reading somewhere that a dude with GMMG gained 2-3 rwhp with a cut out... i thought that most people only gaind 8-10. my dyno numbers are in my sig, not a lot but not sad

The GMMG on my otherwise stock A4 is very tame, a bit of a growl under medium to wide open throttle otherwise its to quiet for me. This exhaust would probably sound better on a car with headers and an off road pipe. I'm not going that route though and am content with what I have.
